This study was conducted to estimate the reduction effect of nonpoint source pollutants according to the rainfall intensity and the drainage of the infiltration grate inlet. An onsite measurement of the soil-infiltration flow was performed, and the filter-part suspended solid (SS) load was calculated using the experiment data from the laboratory-reactor test. The soil-infiltration flow was measured as approximately 1 m3/hr under a water-saturated soil condition. The filter part of the infiltration grate inlet, which is hydraulic equipment, remained unhindered by the soil infiltration at the bottom of the storage tank, because the infiltration flow was continuously measured as approximately 3 m3/hr under the closing-infiltration-hole condition. The infiltration flow and the SS load are more than approximately 1 m3/hr and 1.71 kg, respectively, according to the filter-part laboratory results for which the artificial sample was used; therefore, the obtained values could be presented as the minimum value to initiate a reduction of the filtration effect. The filter-part reduction efficiencies of the SS load for the rainfall intensity are approximately 87 % at 5 mm/hr and approximately 61 % at 10 mm/hr in consideration of one infiltration grate inlet with a drainage area of approximately 200 m2. The reduction efficiency regarding the nonpoint source pollutants for the first flush rainfall is very effective; however, the rainfall-density reduction efficiency is higher than that of the flow.
