자율전공 학생을 위한 교육 방법 및 체제 설계 사례연구

국문 초록

목적 이 연구는 전공자율선택제를 운영하는 대학들의 현황을 분석하여, 자율전공 학생들이 성공적으로 전공을 탐색하고 학업 및 진로를 설계할 수 있도록 지원하기 위한 교육적 체제와 방법을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 방법 전공자율선택제 관련 선행 연구를 검토하였으며, 국내 주요 대학 9곳을 선정하여 해당 대학의 전공자율선택제 운영 방식과 지원 체계를 조사하였다. 사례 선정은 대학의 설립 유형, 지역적 분포, 제도 도입 시기 및 운영 방식의 다양성을 고려하여 이루어졌으며, 문헌자료 및 대학 홈페이지, 포럼 발표자료, 관련 보도자료 등을 통해 데이터를 수집하였다. 수집된 데이터를 바탕으로 자율전공 학생들을 위한 교육 프로그램과 체제를 구성하였다. 결과 자율전공 학생의 성공적인 학습과 성취를 위해서는 교과 교육과정, 비교과 교육과정, 학생지도체계, 이 과정에서 나타나는 다양한 현안 문제를 해결하기 위한 정책 연구의 4가지 요소가 고려되어야 하며, 이러한 요소들이 상호 연계되어야 한다. 첫째, 교과 교육과정 측면에서 교양교육 활성화, 전공기초 교과목 수강 확대, 원격강좌 활성화, 융합전공 이수 의무화 등 전공 선택의 자율성을 보장하면서도 교육의 질을 유지할 수 있는 커리큘럼 설계가 요구된다. 둘째, 학생들의 전공 탐색을 돕기 위해 신입생 오리엔테이션, 전공탐색 설명회, 전공 박람회, 전공 체험 프로그램, 전공 멘토링, 전공 상담 프로그램 등 다양한 비교과 교육과정이 마련되어야 하며, 전공별 정보 플랫폼을 구축하여 구체적이고 정확한 정보를 제공해야 한다. 셋째, 학생들이 전공 선택 과정에서 충분한 상담과 지도를 받을 수 있도록 상담 기반의 개별 맞춤형 학생지도체계가 구축되어야 한다. 마지막으로, 전공자율선택제의 효과성을 평가하고, 문제점을 발견하며, 변화하는 교육 환경에 맞는 개선 방안을 모색하기 위한 지속적인 정책 연구가 이루어져야 한다. 결론 이 연구는 국내 주요 대학의 실증적 사례 분석을 통해 다양한 교육적 지원 체계와 운영 방안을 제안함으로써 실제 교육 정책과 운영에 기여할 수 있는 실천적 의의를 지닌다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to analyze the current implementation of major selection systems in universities and propose educational frameworks and methods to support students in successfully exploring their academic interests and designing their academic and career paths. Methods A comprehensive literature review was conducted to analyze previous research on major selection system, and nine prominent domestic universities were selected to investigate their operational methods and support systems. Case universities were selected by considering diversity in institutional type, regional distribution, timing of system adoption, and operational methods. Data were collected through academic literature, official university websites, forum presentations, and related media reports. Based on the collected data, educational programs and structures for students who autonomously select their majors were developed. Results The study identified four essential components for the success of major selection system students: curriculum design, extracurricular programs, student advisory systems, and policy research. These elements need to be interconnected to achieve optimal results. First, it is necessary to design a curriculum that ensures the autonomy of major selection while maintaining the quality of education, including the activation of liberal arts education, expansion of basic major courses, promotion of online courses, and mandatory completion of interdisciplinary majors. Second, various extracurricular programs should be provided to support students in exploring their majors, such as freshman orientations, major exploration seminars, major fairs, major mentoring, hands-on experiences, and counseling services, Third, a personalized advisory system should be established to provide sufficient guidance throughout the major selection process. Finally, continuous research and development should be conducted to identify and address the issues in implementing major selection systems. Conclusions The results of this study can contribute to actual educational policies and operations by proposing various educational support systems and operational strategies through the empirical analysis of major domestic universities.
