노마디즘 관점으로 바라 본 유아들의 공간-되기

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 유아가 공간과 어떻게 연결되고 관계를 맺어 내부작용하여 공간-되기를 생성해 가는지 Deleuze의 노마디즘 관점으로 의미를 탐색하는 데 있다. 방법 D시에 위치한 A유치원 만 5세 유아 19명을 대상으로 9개월간 주 1-2회, 등원시간부터 하원시간까지 참여 관찰하였다. 유아의 놀이와 일상생활에서 나타나는 공간의 생성을 자연스러운 놀이상황 속에서 유아가 공간에 어떻게 정착하고 이동하며 생활과 놀이를 펼쳐가는지 교사의 관찰일지, 유아 면담자료, 교사 면담자료, 연구자 일지, 놀이 관찰기록 등을 추가로 수집하여 분석하였다. 결과 노마디즘의 공간 생성의 의미는 첫째, 제약과 질서를 벗어난 열린 공간, 머물며 유목하는 공간, 연결과 접속을 거듭하며 이어지는 공간의 목적과 기능의 혼성성, 둘째, 새로운 마주침이 있는 공간, 소통하며 생성하는 공유의 공간, 문화적 요소가 반영된 공간, 교육과 생활이 공존하는 유아 삶의 공간의 물질과 얽히는 확장성, 셋째, 일시적 우연의 순간이 중첩되는 공간, 배회하며 접속하는 공간의 일시적 접속의 반복성이다. 결론 본 연구는 유아가 공간의 고정적 특성을 극복하고 몸과 사유의 이동을 통해 자신의 놀이와 일상 그리고 삶 속에서 새로운 가치를 창조하는 공간-되기의 과정을 이해하는데 기여하였다. 이를 통해 유아들은 기존과는 다른 차이를 생성하여 창조적 사유를 이어가며 자신만의 공간-되기를 끊임없이 실현하는 유목민임을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study explores the meaning of young children's play from the perspective of Deleuze's nomadism, focusing on how children connect with and relate to space, engaging in internal interactions that generate “becoming-space.” Methods The research involved participatory observation of 19 five-year-old children attending Kindergarten A in city D over nine months, with sessions conducted once or twice weekly, from arrival to departure. Observations of children's spontaneous play and everyday interactions were supplemented with teachers' observation records, child interviews, teacher interviews, researcher journals, and play observation records to examine how children settled into, moved within, and expanded their daily lives and play within spaces. Results The meaning of spatial generation based on nomadism can be understood in three dimensions. First, space is open and freed from constraints and order, where children dwell and wander, continually forming hybrid purposes and functions through connection and reconnection. Second, space becomes a site of new encounters, a shared space generated through communication, a space reflecting cultural elements, and an expanded space where education and everyday life intertwine as part of children's lived experiences. Third, space consists of overlapping moments of temporary chance, repeated transient connections formed through wandering and interactions. Conclusions This study contributes to an understanding of how young children overcome the fixed characteristics of space, creating new values in their play, daily life, and lived experiences through movement of the body and thought—thus engaging in a process of becoming-space. It confirms that children are nomads who continuously generate difference and creative thought, constantly actualizing their own unique becoming-space.
