The effect of intensive care nursing education on the competence in intensive and critical care nursing of nursing students

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 간호대학생을 대상으로 중환자간호교육을 시행하여 중환자간호역량에 미치는 효과를 확인하고자 시도되었다. 방법 본 연구는 비동등성 대조군 전후설계의 유사실험연구이다. 연구 대상은 간호학과 4학년에 재학중인 학생으로 실험군 78명, 대조군 41명을 대상으로 하였다. 중환자간호교육은 주마다 1시간씩 총 15주 시행하였다. 중환자간호역량은 Intensive and Critical Care Nursing Competence Scale Version(ICCN-CS-1)를 이용하여 측정하였다. ICCN-CS-1은 임상역량과 전문직역량으로 구분하며 총 4가지 측면(지식, 기술, 태도 및 가치, 경험)으로 구성되었다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 25.0 프로그램을 이용하여 unpaired t-test와 paired t-test로 분석하였다. 결과 실험군 내에서 중환자역량의 4가지 측면과 전문직역량은 교육 전보다 교육 후에 통계적으로 유의하게 증가하였다. 실험군의 임상역량은 대조군보다 통계적으로 유의하게 증가하였다(t=2.51, p=.014). 결론 중환자간호교육의 효과로 간호대학생의 중환자간호역량이 향상되었음을 확인하였고, 중환자간호역량을 4가지 측면과 임상역량과 전문직역량으로 구분하여 분석함으로써 향후 중환자간호교육의 방향을 제시하였다는 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study was conducted to verify the effect of an intensive care nursing educational program on the competence of nursing students in intensive and critical care nursing. Methods The study had a nonequivalent control group pre-post design. A total of 119 fourth-year nursing students were recruited and assigned to either the experimental group (n=78) or the control group (n=41). The intensive care nursing educational program was conducted for 1 hour per week for a total of 15 weeks. The Intensive and Critical Care Nursing Competence Scale Version 1 (ICCN-CS-1) questionnaire was used for data collection. The ICCN-CS-1 is divided into clinical competencies and professional competencies and consists of four dimensions (knowledge, skills, attitudes/values, and experience). Results Significant differences were found between the experimental and control groups in clinical competence (t=2.51, p=.014). In the experimental group, professional competence, knowledge, skill, attitudes/values, and experience were statistically significantly different after treatment. Conclusions The results indicate that this intensive care nursing educational program was effective in improving the competence of nursing students in intensive and critical care nursing. The findings are significant in that this analysis of intensive and critical care nursing competence in four dimensions, as well as clinical competencies and professional competencies, presents the future direction of intensive care nursing education.
