미술치료사가 상담현장에서 겪는 대리외상 경험에 대한 개념도 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 상담 현장에서 미술치료사가 경험하는 대리외상의 본질과 구조적 특성을 탐구하는 데 목적이 있다. 방법 외상 내담자와의 상담 경험이 있는 석사 이상 학위를 소지한 미술치료사 8명을 대상으로 인터뷰를 실시하여 56문항의 핵심진술문을 추출하였고, Kane과 Trochim(2007)가 제시한 개념도(concept mapping) 분석을 활용하여 핵심 진술문을 바탕으로 다차원 척도법과 Ward의 위계적 군집분석을 실시하였다. 결과 미술치료사의 대리외상 경험은 전문가적 태도 유지의 어려움, 정서 및 인지적 어려움, 전문성 강화를 위한 노력, 신체화와 행동화로 네 가지 주요 군집으로 분류되었다. 미술치료사는 외상 내담자를 치료하는 과정에서 직업적 경계 유지의 어려움과 정서적 탈진, 부정적 사고패턴과 다양한 신체 증상을 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 대리외상을 극복하기 위해 치료사들은 동료와의 협력, 슈퍼비전 활용, 미술매체를 통한 자기조절 등의 전략을 채택하였다. 결론 본 연구는 미술치료사의 대리외상 경험에 대한 체계적인 이해를 제공하며, 이를 관리하고 극복하기 위한 실질적인 방안을 제시하였다. 따라서 이 연구는 미술치료사의 전문성을 유지하고 내담자와의 치료적 관계를 강화하기 위한 교육, 및 훈련 프로그램 개발에 중요한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to explore the nature and structural characteristics of vicarious trauma experienced by art therapists in counseling settings. Methods Interviews were conducted with eight art therapists with master's degrees or higher and experience in counseling trauma patients, and 56 core statements were extracted. Then, multidimensional scaling and Ward's hierarchical cluster analysis were conducted based on the core statements using the concept mapping analysis suggested by Kane and Trochim (2007). Results Art therapists' experiences of vicarious trauma were classified into four major clusters: difficulty in maintaining professional attitude, emotional and cognitive difficulties, efforts to strengthen professionalism, and somatization and behaviorization. Art therapists were found to experience difficulties in maintaining professional boundaries, emotional exhaustion, negative thought patterns, and various physical symptoms in the process of treating trauma patients. In order to overcome vicarious trauma, therapists adopted strategies such as cooperation with colleagues, use of supervision, and self-regulation through art media. Conclusions This study provides a systematic understanding of the vicarious trauma experience of art therapists and suggests practical methods for managing and overcoming it. Therefore, this study can be used as important basic data for the development of education and training programs to maintain the professionalism of art therapists and strengthen therapeutic relationships with clients.
