국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 부모의 스마트폰 과의존이 자녀의 스마트폰 과의존에 미치는 영향 관계에서 부모의 양육태도, 자녀의 자아존중감 및 우울이 순차적으로 매개하는 연속다중매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 방법 본 연구는 한국아동·청소년패널(KCYPS) 2018 초4 패널 중 5차 조사 데이터(2022년)를 활용하여 중학교 2학년 청소년 2,223명과 부모 2,223명을 분석 대상으로 하였다. SPSS 23.0과 Mplus 8.11 프로그램을 이용하여 연속다중매개효과를 확인하고, 부트스트래핑 분석을 통해 매개효과를 검증하였다. 결과 부모의 스마트폰 과의존과 자녀의 스마트폰 과의존의 관계에서 부모의 양육태도, 자녀의 자아존중감과 우울이 순차적으로 매개하는 연속다중매개효과가 확인되었다. 부모의 스마트폰 과의존은 부정적인 양육태도를 증가시키고, 이는 자녀의 자아존중감을 낮추고 우울을 높여 결과적으로 자녀의 스마트폰 과의존을 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연속적인 매개효과는 통계적으로 유의미한 것으로 확인되었다. 결론 본 연구는 청소년의 스마트폰 과의존이 부모 관련 요인과 개인의 심리·정서 요인의 영향을 받는다는 것을 확인하였다. 청소년의 스마트폰 과의존 문제 해결을 위해 부모의 스마트폰 사용습관 개선, 긍정적인 양육태도 함양, 자녀의 자아존중감 증진 및 우울 감소를 위한 통합적인 개입전략이 필요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to examine the serial multiple mediating effects of parental smartphone overdependence on children's smartphone overdependence through parenting attitudes, children’s self-esteem, and depression. Methods Using data from the 2018 Korean Children and Youth Panel Study (KCYPS) Wave 5, this study analyzed 2,223 second-year middle school students and their parents. The serial multiple mediating effects were verified using SPSS 23.0 and Mplus 8.11 programs, and the statistical significance of the mediating effects was confirmed through bootstrapping analysis. Results The findings revealed a serial multiple mediating effect of parental attitudes, children's self-esteem, and depression in the relationship in the relationship between parental smartphone overdependence and children's smartphone overdependence. Parental smartphone overdependence led to increased negative attitudes, which subsequently lowered children's self-esteem and increased depression, ultimately leading to increased smartphone overdependence in children. These serial mediating effects were statistically significant. Conclusions This study confirmed that children’s smartphone overdependence is influenced by parental factors as well as individual psychological and emotional factors. To address the problem of smartphone overdependence in children, integrated intervention strategies are needed to improve parents' smartphone usage habits, cultivate positive parenting attitudes, and promote children's self-esteem while reducing depression.
