국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 대학생을 대상으로 교양수업에서 프로젝트학습 기반 세계시민교육 프로그램을 운영하여 그 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 방법 수도권에 소재하고 있는 A대학교 교양수업인 ‘글로벌 이슈와 문제해결방법’을 수강중인 대학생 68명을 대상으로 세계시민교육 프로그램을 실시하였다. 해당 프로그램은 프로젝트학습을 적용하여 팀단위로 글로벌 이슈를 선택하고 이에 대한 해결방안을 모색하도록 운영되었다. 프로그램 시작 전·후로 사전 및 사후검사를 실시하였으며, 공동체 의식과 세계시민의식에서의 긍정적인 변화를 살펴보았다. 결과 세계시민교육 프로그램 사전-사후 검증 결과 공동체 의식과 하위요인인 구성원의식, 상호 영향 의식, 욕구의 통합과 충족, 정서적 연계에서 향상이 있었다. 또한 세계시민의식과 하위요인인 지식, 기술, 태도, 실천의지의 모든 하위요인들에서도 향상이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 대학생 대상으로 프로젝트학습 기반 세계시민교육 프로그램 실증 연구를 토대로 효과성을 검증함으로써 대학생들의 공동체 의식과 세계시민의식에 관심을 가지고, 대학 교양수업에서도 활용될 수 있는 세계시민교육 프로그램 효과성을 확인하였다는 것에 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a project-based global citizenship education program implemented for university students. Methods The program was conducted with 68 university students enrolled in the liberal arts course “Global Issues and Problem-Solving Methods” at A University, located in the metropolitan area. The program adopted a project-based learning approach, where students worked in teams to select global issues and explore solutions. Pre- and post-tests were administered before and after the program to assess changes in students' community consciousness and global citizenship consciousness. Results The pre- and post-test analysis of the global citizenship education program revealed improvements in students’ sense of community, including its sub-factors: membership, influence, integration and fulfillment of needs, and shared emotional connection. Additionally, global citizenship consciousness and its sub-factors, namely knowledge, skills, attitudes, and commitment to action, also showed significant improvement. Conclusions This study is significant in that it empirically validated the effectiveness of a project-based global citizenship education program for university students. The findings highlight the impact of such a program on fostering students' sense of community and global citizenship and suggest its potential applicability in university liberal arts courses.
