국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 산후우울증을 경험한 초등학교 여성 교사의 자전적 내러티브를 통해 출산 이후 변화하는 정체성과 직무 지속 과정을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 연구자는 자신의 산후우울증과 복직, 그리고 교육학 박사과정에 이르는 여정을 서사적으로 재구성하고, 정서적 경험과 정체성 재구성의 의미를 분석하였다. 방법 본 연구는 Clandinin과 Connelly의 내러티브 탐구 방법을 적용하여 연구자의 자전적 경험을 분석하였다. 연구자는 출산, 육아, 산후우울증, 복직, 박사과정 이수 경험을 서술하고, 시간성, 사회성, 장소성 개념을 활용하여 경험의 의미를 해석하였다. 결과 연구자는 산후우울증과 육아로 인해 정체성 혼란과 감정적 소진을 경험하였으며, 복직 후에도 직무 지속에 어려움을 겪었다. 그러나 박사과정을 통해 자신의 경험을 학문적으로 탐구하고 재구성하면서, 출산과 육아가 단순한 경력 단절이 아니라 개인적 성장과 전문성 확장의 기회가 될 수 있음을 깨닫게 되었다. 본 연구는 산후우울증을 겪은 여성 교사가 자기 이해와 심리적 회복을 통해 직무를 지속하는 과정이 개인적⋅실제적⋅사회적 차원에서 의미 있는 변화로 이어질 수 있음을 확인하였다. 결론 본 연구는 산후우울증을 경험한 여성 교사의 복직과 경력 지속이 개인을 넘어 사회적⋅제도적 차원에서 논의될 필요성을 강조한다. 이를 위해 복직 교사를 위한 심리적 지원, 승진 기회 보장, 유연 근무제 도입 등 정책 개선을 제안하며, 해당 경험을 학문적으로 확장하여 교육 및 노동 정책 개선의 기초 자료를 제공하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to explore the changing identity and career continuity of a female elementary school teacher who experienced postpartum depression, through an autobiographical narrative. To achieve this, the researcher narratively reconstructed her journey encompassing postpartum depression, return to work, and pursuit of a doctoral degree in education, and analyzed the emotional experiences and the meaning of identity reconstruction. Methods This study applies Clandinin and Connelly’s narrative inquiry method to analyze the researcher’s autobiographical experiences. The researcher describes experiences related to childbirth, parenting, postpartum depression, returning to work, and pursuing a Ph.D. program. The meaning of these experiences is interpreted using the concepts of temporality, sociality, and place. Results The researcher experienced identity confusion and emotional exhaustion due to postpartum depression and childcare, facing difficulties in maintaining her career even after returning to work. However, through the Ph.D. program, she was able to academically explore and reconstruct her experiences, realizing that childbirth and parenting are not merely career interruptions but opportunities for personal growth and professional development. This study confirms that the process of self-understanding and psychological recovery for female teachers who have experienced postpartum depression can lead to meaningful changes on personal, practical, and social levels. Conclusions This study emphasizes the need to discuss the return to work and career continuity of female teachers who have experienced postpartum depression beyond the individual level, considering social and institutional dimensions. To address this, the study proposes policy improvements such as psychological support for returning teachers, guaranteed promotion opportunities, and the implementation of flexible work arrangements. Furthermore, by expanding these experiences into academic discourse, this study aims to provide a foundational resource for improving education and labor policies.
