국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 Dewey의 경험 철학을 근거하여 AI 디지털교과서 활용 교육의 방향성을 고찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 방법 이를 위해 먼저 공교육에서 AI 활용 교육의 현황을 분석하기 위해 선행 연구를 수집하고 그 적용 양상을 정리하였다. 다음으로, Dewey의 경험 철학을 철학적 분석을 통해 그의 사상적 배경, 경험의 원리, 바람직한 교사상 등을 체계적으로 고찰하였다. 마지막으로, Dewey의 경험 철학을 이론적 틀로 삼아 AI 디지털 교과서 활용 교육이 나아가야 할 방향을 도출하였다. 결과 첫째, 유기체로서의 학습자와 교사를 인식한다. 둘째, 교육적 경험을 선물하는 AI 디지털교과서 활용 교육이 되어야 한다. 셋째, 반성적 사고를 촉진하는 AI 디지털교과서가 되어야 한다. 넷째, Dewey의 경험 철학에 근거하여 AI 디지털교과서 활용 교육에서 바람직한 교사의 역할을 제시한다. 결론 첫째, 교사와 학습자를 유기체적 존재로 인식하고, AI 디지털교과서 활용 과정에서 발생하는 유기체적 상호작용을 면밀히 관찰해야 한다. 둘째, AI 디지털교과서 활용이 학생들에게 Dewey가 제시한 가치 있는 교육적 경험을 제공하는지 철저히 검토해야 한다. 셋째, Dewey가 강조한 교육의 역할, 즉 비판적 사고를 기르는 것을 중심으로, AI 디지털교과서 도입에 대해 학생들이 스스로 반성적 사고를 할 수 있도록 도와야 한다. 넷째, AI 디지털교과서 활용 교육에서 교사의 역할은 더욱 중요해졌다. 다섯째, 관련 연수와 교사 공동체는 이러한 교사의 역할을 지원하는 데 초점을 맞추어야 한다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to explore the direction of AI digital textbook utilization in education based on John Dewey’s philosophy of experience. Methods This study was conducted through a literature review. First, prior research on the use of AI in public education was collected and analyzed to identify current implementation trends. Then, based on philosophical analysis, Dewey’s philosophy of experience was examined in depth, including its intellectual background, key perspectives, the concept and principles of “experience,” and the role of the teacher. Finally, using Dewey’s philosophy of experience as a theoretical framework, the study proposed future directions for the use of AI-based digital textbooks in education. Results First, learners and teachers should be recognized as organic beings. Second, AI digital textbook utilization in education should serve as a means to provide meaningful educational experiences. Third, AI digital textbooks should foster reflective thinking. Fourth, based on Dewey’s philosophy of experience, this study proposes the desirable role of teachers in AI digital textbook-integrated education. Conclusions First, it is crucial to recognize both teachers and learners as organic beings and carefully observe the organic interactions occurring during AI digital textbook utilization. Second, rigorous evaluation is required to ensure that AI digital textbooks provide students with valuable educational experiences, as proposed by Dewey. Third, in alignment with Dewey’s emphasis on the role of education in fostering critical thinking, students should be encouraged to engage in reflective thinking regarding the implementation of AI digital textbooks. Fourth, the role of teachers has become even more significant in AI digital textbook-integrated education. Lastly, relevant teacher training programs and professional learning communities should focus on supporting this evolving role of teachers.
