비문해 여성 노인의 문해교육 경험과 삶의 변화: 초등 학력 후 과정에 재학 중인 학습자를 중심으로

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 비문해 여성 노인이 문해교육을 통해 경험하는 삶의 변화를 탐색하고, 문해교육의 효과를 극대화하기 위한 구체적인 제언을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 방법 서울에 있는 성인 문해교육 기관의 초등 학력 후 과정에 재학 중인 여성 노인 문해 학습자 7명을 대상으로 심층면담을 활용한 사례연구를 실시하였다. 연구면담 기록지 등을 통한 삼각검증법과 연구참여자 확인 과정을 거쳐 타당성과 신뢰성을 높이려는 노력을 하였다. 결과 문해교육은 비문해 여성 노인들에게 단순한 읽기와 쓰기 능력의 습득을 넘어, 삶의 질을 향상시키는 중요한 교육과정으로 자리잡고 있다. 문해교육을 통해 여성 노인들은 자아존중감이 향상되고, 사회적 관계를 형성하며, 정서적 건강이 증진되는 등의 다양한 변화를 경험하였다. 특히, 수업 전후의 경험 공유는 고립감을 줄이고 새로운 사회적 관계를 형성하는 데 기여하였다. 더 나아가, 여성 노인들은 자신의 과거 경험과 현재 감정을 돌아보며 자기 인식의 과정을 거치게 되고, 이를 통해 삶의 의미를 발견함으로써 정서적 안정과 삶의 질 향상을 이루었다. 결론 문해교육은 비문해 여성 노인의 삶의 질 향상, 자아존중감 증진, 정서적 안정 확보 및 사회적 관계 형성에 중대한 기여를 한다. 단순한 문자 해독 능력 습득을 넘어 개인의 전반적 삶을 풍요롭게 하고, 사회적 존재로서의 가치를 재확인하는 핵심적인 교육적 개입으로 기능한다. 효과적인 문해교육을 실현하기 위해서는 포용적 교육 환경 구축, 디지털 문해 역량 강화, 사회적 지원 네트워크 형성 및 장기적 효과에 대한 체계적인 연구가 필요하다. 문해교육의 지속적인 발전과 정책적, 교육적 노력을 통해 더 많은 여성 노인이 사회적 소통을 증진하고, 자아 정체성을 확립할 수 있도록 적극적인 지원이 요구된다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to explore the life changes experienced by elderly women in inscription through literacy education and to present specific suggestions for maximizing the effectiveness of literacy education. Methods A case study using in-depth interviews was conducted on seven elderly female literacy learners attending a post-primary education course at an adult literacy education institution in Seoul. Efforts were made to increase validity and reliability through triangular verification through research interview records and confirmation of research participants. Results Literacy education has become an important curriculum that improves the quality of life beyond simple acquisition of reading and writing skills for elderly women with inscriptions. Through literacy education, elderly women have experienced various changes such as improving self-esteem, forming social relationships, and improving emotional health. In particular, sharing experiences before and after class contributed to reducing feelings of isolation and forming new social relationships. Furthermore, elderly women go through a process of self-awareness by looking back on their past experiences and present emotions, and through this, they have achieved emotional stability and improved quality of life by discovering the meaning of life. Conclusions Literacy education makes a significant contribution to improving the quality of life, promoting self-esteem, securing emotional stability, and forming social relationships for elderly women in inscription. It functions as a key educational intervention that enriches the overall life of an individual and reaffirms its value as a social being beyond simple character decoding ability. In order to realize effective literacy education, systematic research on the establishment of an inclusive educational environment, strengthening digital literacy capabilities, forming a social support network, and long-term effects is needed. Active support is required to promote social communication and establish self-identity for more elderly women through the continuous development of literacy education and policy and educational efforts.
