영문 초록

The purpose of this article is to compare/contrast the two Armitage Reports in order to suggest foreign policy implications for Korea. The analysis focuses on the changing/continuing U.S attitudes toward Japan, China, and the Korean peninsula. Based on the analysis the article proposes that Korea should pursue more diverse relations with great powers while maintaining a close alliance relationship with the United States. It argues that the success of such a foreign policy alternative requires a strong domestic political support which can be brought about by encouraging constructive debates among moderate political forces.
