전란을 기억하는 한 방식으로서의 ‘극적 표현’과 전란 서사의 의미

국문 초록

본고는 병자호란 소재 전란 서사를 ‘극적(劇的) 표현’의 구성체란 관점에서 해석함으로써 작품의 새로운 이해를 도모코자 한 것이다. 여기서 말하는 극적 표현이란 문체상 특징뿐 아니라 전란 서사에서 전란을 기억하기 위해 동원했던 극적 서술 방식과 서사구조를 포함하는 개념으로, 전란 서사가 전란을 기억하는 방식과 밀접한 것으로 보았다. 이런 극적 표현이 어떤 공통된, 또는 특수한 기억의 성향을 지닐 때 그것이 일종의 문화적 기억이 되기 쉽다고 보고, 이를 「강도몽유록(江都夢遊錄)」에서 시론적으로 고찰하고자 했다. 「강도몽유록」은 병자호란 당시 강화도에서 피해를 당한 여성들의 독백식 발언이 주가 되는, 연극성이 강한 전란 서사다. 입몽과 토론, 각몽 상황 서술로 이루어진 서사구조 자체가 극적 표현의 한 양태이다. 또한 사회적 약자인 여성들의 사건 고발식 극적 발언을 통해 동일 관심사의 연대와 ‘우리’라는 의식을 부각시키는 고도의 서사전략을 보여준다. 보고식으로 한 명씩 발화하는 방식을 통해 전란의 참상과 무책임한 상층 남성들의 행태를 기억해내고 동정과 공감을 유발시키기에 효과적이다. 여기서 사용된 극적 표현은 내면적 대화를 통한 성찰과 해원(解寃)의 기능마저 보여주고 있는 바, 「강도몽유록」을 극적 서사와 수사학이 정교하게 꾸며져 만들어진 복합체로 평가할 수 있다. 무엇보다 「강도몽유록」에서 사용된 극적 표현은 대화적 속성을 지니고 있다. 이는 ‘우리’ 사이의 이면적 대화를 유도하는 데 효과적이다. 그리고 이는 궁극적으로 전란 사후의 트라우마를 의도적으로 기억하거나 망각하고자 한 문화적 기억의 한 양태에 해당한다. 고통스러웠던 전란을 기억하는 문제는 고통 그 자체가 아닌, 고통의 서사를 어떻게 기억하고 읽어내느냐라는 이해 방식과 태도에 달려 있다.

영문 초록

This paper is purposed to study Second Manchu Invasion of Korea[丙子胡 亂] narrative works about how and what it means to remember the war from the perspective of one who was victim of the war and weak people. Especially it sought to interpret war narrative(戰亂敍事) in terms of the composition of the dramatic[劇的] expression. The dramatic expression is a concept that refers to stylistic feature as well as a dramatic narrative and descriptive manner such that mobilized to remember the narrative war generally. This dramatic representation is seen as a way to remember the war in the war narrative. And it is likely to be some sort of cultural memory whose dramatic representations possess the propensity of some common or special memories. A good example is Gangdomongyurok[江都夢遊錄]. Gangdomongyurok is a work, which has theatricality, with a narrative structure consisting of dreaming-monologue type discussion-awaking from a dream . This narrative structure itself is the fruit of dramatic expression. It is a show that socially disadvantaged women through the prosecution case statement has dramatic expression the same interests and the solidarity of us . War narrative that reported by telling stories one by one, shows us how the devastation of war and the irresponsible behavior of upper male were. Narrative of these memories is effective to induce sympathy and empathy. The dramatic expressions in Gangdomongyurok show the functions of reflection and undoing resentment[解寃] through the inner dialogue. This can be seen that this work is complex elaborately decorated with poetics and rhetoric. The dramatic expressions in the war narrative is an effective way to induce an inner dialogue between us. This will ultimately called as one aspect of cultural memory to remember or forget the trauma of post-war deliberately. To remember the painful war is not suffering itself, but depends on the current understanding way and attitudes that will be how to interpret the narrative of suffering.
