한국어교육용 챗봇에 대한 교수자의 인식과 활용 방안

국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 제작 챗봇에 대한 한국어 교수자의 인식을 알아보고 교수자 집단의 의견을 바탕으로 챗봇의 실질적인 활용 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 방법 이를 위하여 국내 대학 한국어 교육 기관의 교수자 8명과 일본 소재 대학의 교수자 7명을 모집하여 국내외 교수자 총 15명을 대상으로 연구를 수행하였다. 초급 한국어 학습자를 대상으로 한 정진경, 김한샘(2024)의 연구에서 제작된 6개의 한국어교육용 챗봇을 약 3주간 동일하게 활용하도록 하였으며, 챗봇 사용 전후로 사전⋅사후 설문조사를 실시하고 교수자 집단의 의견을 수집하여 결과를 분석하였다. 결과 연구 결과 챗봇의 학습 내용에 대한 인식과 만족도에 있어서는 국내외 교수자 집단 간 큰 차이 없이 전반적으로 긍정적인 인식을 보여 주었다. 그러나 챗봇 활용 연습의 흥미도 측면에서 국내 교수자 집단이 국외 교수자 집단보다 더 흥미롭게 평가하였으며, 교수자 집단의 성별에 따른 차이에서는 특히 남성 교수자의 부정적 인식을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 챗봇 빌더 기반의 교육용 챗봇을 활용할 때에는 현 시점의 기술 수준과 교수자 집단의 요구를 반영한 현실적 접근이 필요하며, 음성 챗봇보다는 문자 챗봇으로 연동하여 활용할 것과 복습용이나 과제용의 보조 학습 도구로서 초급 학습자의 흥미와 참여를 유도하는 데 활용할 것을 제안하였다. 아울러 챗봇 활용 연습이 교수자와 학습자 간에 상호작용을 증진하고 반복 학습과 과제 수행을 지원함으로써 학습자 중심의 교육 환경을 조성할 가능성을 보여 주었다고 판단하였다. 결론 제작 챗봇의 제한된 대화 성능에도 불구하고 지금까지 챗봇 활용에 대한 한국어 교수자 대상의 연구는 전무하였기에 국내외 교수자 집단의 인식과 다양한 견해를 살펴보고 실질적인 활용 방안을 모색하였다는 점, 이를 통해 앞으로의 한국어교육용 챗봇의 개선 방향을 살펴볼 수 있었다는 점에서 본 연구의 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate Korean language instructors' perceptions of the developed chatbots and to explore their practical utilization based on instructors' opinions. Methods For this study, a total of 15 instructors, including 8 from Korean language education institutions in South Korea and 7 from universities in Japan, participated. Six chatbots for Korean language education, developed in the study by Jung & Kim (2024) targeting beginner-level Korean learners, were used for approximately three weeks. Pre- and post-surveys were conducted, and instructors' opinions were collected and analyzed. Results The study found that there was no significant difference between domestic and overseas Korean language instructor groups regarding their perceptions of the chatbot's learning content and satisfaction, with both groups showing generally positive perceptions. However, In terms of interest in chatbot-based practice, domestic instructors rated it more positively than their overseas counterparts. Regarding gender differences, male instructors exhibited more negative perceptions. In addition, when utilizing educational chatbots based on chatbot builders, a realistic approach that reflects the current level of technology and the needs of instructor groups is necessary. It is recommended to integrate chatbots as text-based rather than voice-based tools and to use them as supplementary learning tools for review or assignments, particularly to engage and motivate beginner learners. Moreover, chatbot-based practice demonstrated its potential to enhance interaction between instructors and learners, support repetitive learning and task completion, and ultimately foster a learner-centered educational environment. Conclusions Despite the limited conversational capabilities of the developed chatbot, no prior research has been conducted on chatbot utilization among Korean language instructors. Therefore, this study is significant as it examines the perceptions and diverse perspectives of both domestic and international instructor groups and explores practical ways to utilize it. Furthermore, it provides insights into future directions for improving chatbots designed for Korean language education.
