국문 초록

목적 본 연구의 주요 목적은 성소수자 자녀를 둔 부모가 자녀에게 커밍아웃 받은 이후 자신의 정체성을 새롭게 형성해 나가는 과정의 경험과 그 경험에 대한 의미가 무엇인지를 탐구하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 방법 이를 위해 성소수자 자녀로부터 받은 커밍아웃 경험과 그 의미를 자연스럽고 자발적인 이야기 방식으로 탐색하기 위하여 내러티브 탐구방법을 적용하였다. 그리고 성소수자 자녀를 둔 부모 4명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구 자료를 기초로 성소수자 자녀에게 커밍아웃 받기 전후 경험의 연속성과 상호성 차원을 탐색하고, 연구 참여자의 내러티브를 주제별로 은유적으로 범주화하면서 성소수자 자녀를 둔 부모의 정체성을 구성하였다. 결과 연구 결과는 크게 두 가지로 구성하였다. 첫 번째는 내러티브의 연속성 차원에서 날씨의 은유를 적용하여 성소수자 자녀에게 커밍아웃 받기 전후의 경험을 연대기적으로 구성하였다. 두 번째는 연구 참여자들의 정체성 형성 경험에 대한 의미에 대해 등불의 은유를 적용하였으며, ‘어둠 속 생명의 씨앗’, ‘희망의 빛’, ‘안내와 보호’, ‘지혜와 깨달음’, ‘평화와 조화’, ‘영원한 생명’의 은유적 요소를 가지는 내러티브로 구성하였다. 결론 본 연구 결과를 중심으로 성소수자 자녀를 둔 부모와 관련된 교육 및 상담 현장에서 필요한 실질적인 기초자료를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Objectives The main purpose of this study is to explore the process through which parents of sexual Minority form a new sense of identity after their children come out, and to understand the meaning of that experience. Methods To achieve this, a narrative inquiry method was applied in order to explore the experiences and meanings of coming out from their sexual Minority in a natural and voluntary storytelling manner. In-depth interviews were conducted with four parents of sexual Minority. Based on the research data, the study explores the continuity and reciprocity of the experiences before and after the coming out of their sexual Minority, and categorizes the narratives of the participants into themes metaphorically, constructing the identities of parents of sexual Minority. Results The findings of the study are mainly composed of two parts: First, in terms of the continuity of the narrative, the metaphor of weather was applied to chronologically organize the experiences before and after the coming out of their sexual Minority. Second, the metaphor of a lantern was used to explore the meaning of the participants' identity formation experiences, and the narratives were organized with metaphorical elements such as “the seed of life in the darkness,” “the light of hope,” “guidance and protection,” “wisdom and enlightenment,” “peace and harmony,” and “eternal life.” Conclusions Based on the results of this study, it is expected to provide practical foundational data for educational and counseling practices related to parents of sexual Minority.
