국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 성장기 성차별을 경험한 기독 중년여성 사역자가 자존감을 회복하고 자아 성장을 이루어가는 과정을 내부자의 관점에서 심층적으로 탐구하는 데 목적이 있다. 방법 본 연구는 질적 연구 방법으로 자문화 기술지를 채택하였다. 연구자는 자기회상과 내면 성찰, 자기관찰이 포함된 일기와 메모 자료, 가족 인터뷰 자료를 활용하였다. 이를 통해 연구자의 출생부터 성장 과정, 결혼 후 가정생활, 교회 사역, 내적 치유 사역원에서의 경험, 그리고 상담학 석⋅박사 과정을 통한 성찰 내용을 심층적으로 분석하고 기술하였다. 결과 본 연구의 결과, 성장기 성차별을 경험한 기독 중년여성 사역자의 경험을 바탕으로 자존감 회복과 자아 성장에 대한 4개의 대주제, 즉 ‘아무도 반겨주지 않는 세상’, ‘나에게 다가온 한 줄기의 빛’, ‘나비가 되어 가는 번데기’, ‘꿈꾸는 나비의 꿈’이 도출되었다. 과거의 성차별 경험을 ‘성숙’의 재료로 수용하며, 고통을 통찰로 전환하는 경험의 재해석이 있었고 자문화 기술지 작성 과정이 자기 인식과 표현의 도구가 되어 자아성장을 촉진하였다. 또한 ‘순종적인 여성’에서 ‘의견을 가진 신앙인 여성’으로 변화하며, 신앙과 정체성을 통합할 수 있었다. 결론 본 연구는 기독 중년여성 사역자가 성차별로 인한 상처를 치유하고 자존감을 회복하며 자아를 성장시키는 과정을 심층적으로 탐구하였다. 이를 통해 성차별을 경험한 여성들의 상처 극복, 자존감 회복, 자아 성장 과정을 이해하고, 이에 대한 상담학적 함의를 제시하였다. 나아가 자기 성찰과 내적 치유가 기독 중년여성 사역자의 건강한 정체성 형성에 필수적인 요소임을 밝혔으며, 기독교 공동체에서 여성의 역할에 대한 인식 개선의 필요성을 시사하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to explore, from an insider's perspective, the self-esteem restoration and personal growth process of a middle-aged Christian female minister who experienced gender discrimination during her formative years. Methods Using a qualitative research methodology, this study adopted the autoethnographic approach. The researcher utilized personal diaries and memos containing self-reflection and introspection, as well as family interview data. Through these materials, the researcher conducted an in-depth analysis and narrative of her life journey-from birth and upbringing, marriage and family life, to church ministry, experiences at an inner healing ministry, and reflections during her graduate studies in counseling. Results The findings revealed four major themes describing the process of self-esteem recovery and personal growth: “A World That Welcomes No One,” “A Ray of Light That Approached Me,” “A Chrysalis Becoming a Butterfly,” and “The Dream of a Dreaming Butterfly.” The researcher reinterpreted past gender-discriminatory experiences as material for maturity, transforming pain into insight. The process of writing the autoethnography itself served as a tool for self-awareness and expression, thereby promoting self-growth. Furthermore, she experienced a shift from being a “submissive woman” to a “faith-driven woman with a voice,” ultimately integrating her faith and identity. Conclusions This study provides an in-depth examination of how a middle-aged Christian female minister healed wounds caused by gender discrimination, restored self-esteem, and achieved personal growth. The research offers insights into the recovery, self-esteem building, and identity formation processes of women who have experienced gender-based adversity. It highlights the importance of self-reflection and inner healing in shaping a healthy identity for Christian women in ministry and underscores the need for greater awareness and change regarding women's roles within Christian communities.
