국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 초등 저학년 고기능 자폐범주성장애(autism spectrum disorder; ASD) 아동들이 수행한 이야기 다시 말하기 과제에서의 표현정교화 특성을 일반아동의 자료와 비교 분석하였다. 방법 총 연구대상은 초등 1~3학년 15명의 고기능 ASD 아동과 이들의 수용어휘력을 일치시킨 15명의 일반아동이었으며, 글자 없는 그림책으로 이야기를 수집하였으며, 구성, 배경, 평가의 3개 범주에 따른 총 14개 하위 항목으로 구성된 표현정교화 점수 체계를 적용하여 분석하였다. 결과 첫째, 고기능자폐범주성장애 아동들은 일반 아동보다 구성과 평가 범주에서 비교적 수행이 저조했으나 배경에서는 높은 점수를 받았다. 하지만 집단과 범주(구성, 평가, 배경)에 따른 이러한 차이가 통계적으로 유의미한 수준은 아니었으며 두 집단 모두에서 범주 산출은 배경> 구성> 평가 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 범주 별 내용 분석을 실시한 결과 고기능자폐범주성장애 아동들의 행동 특성을 반영하는 지연반향어 산출이 두드러졌으며, 수식어와 관계어, 응집성 있는 표현에 어려움이 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 결론 이야기 다시 말하기를 활용한 표현정교화 특성 분석이 고기능자폐범주성장애 아동들의 담화 분석을 위한 비교적 의미있는 측정치가 될 수 있음을 실증적으로 확인한 본 연구의 의의를 논의하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives In this study, we compared and analyzed the characteristics of expressive elaboration in a story retelling task performed by children with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder(ASD) in the early elementary grades with data from typical children. Methods The subjects of the study were 15 high-functioning ASD children in grades 1-3 of elementary school and 15 typical children whose receptive vocabulary was matched to theirs. Stories were collected in wordless picture books. The analysis was conducted by applying the expressive elaboration scoring system consisting of a total of 14 sub-items according to three categories: appendage, orientation, and evaluation. Results First, children with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder performed relatively worse than typical children in the categories of composition and evaluation, but received high scores in background. However, these differences by group and category were not statistically significant, and in both groups, category production was in the order of orientation > appendage > evaluation. Second, as a result of content analysis by category, it was confirmed that delayed echolalia production, which reflects the behavioral characteristics of children with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder, was prominent, and that they had difficulty with modifiers, relative words, and cohesive expressions. Conclusions The significance of this study was discussed as it empirically confirmed that the analysis of elaboration characteristics using story retelling can be a relatively meaningful measure for analyzing the discourse of children with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder.
