중등 교원양성과정에서 교직윤리 교육 실태 분석

국문 초록

본 논문은 교사 전문성의 구성요소로서 교직윤리의 중요성에 주목하고, 이러한 교직윤리가 중등 교원양성과정에서 어떻게 다루어지고 있는지를 파악하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 전국 12개 사범대학에서 43개의 ‘교직실무’ 강의계획서를 수집하였고 교과목명, 강의개요 및 목표, 교직윤리 관련 주제의 비중과 내용을 토대로 전반적인 교직윤리 교육 현황을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, ① ‘교직실무’ 과목의 교수요목으로 ‘교직윤리’가 포함되어 있음에도 불구하고 실제로 교직윤리를 명시적으로 언급하거나 관련 키워드가 포함된 강의계획서는 총 26개에 불과했다. 교직윤리를 다루는 경우에도 대부분 1차시 내외의 수업에서 그쳤다. ② 해당 교직윤리 차시에서 다루어지는 내용을 키워드로 살펴봤을 때 ‘교직윤리’, ‘교직 예절’, ‘교사의 도덕성’, ‘교직관’ 등 비공식적인 도덕적 차원에서 교사의 윤리에 관한 내용이 주를 이루고 있었다. 또한 그 비중과 내용은 학교와 교수자에 따라 편차가 존재했다. 이상 연구결과에 따라 향후 교직윤리 교육에 대해 다음과 같이 제안하였다. 첫째, 중등 교원양성과정에서 교직윤리 교육 시간의 추가적인 확보가 필요하다. 둘째, 교직윤리의 개념과 내용이 명확하게 합의될 필요가 있다. 마지막으로 훈화적 내용이 아닌 실제 교직 수행과정에서 필요한 내용을 다루는 교육이 필요하다. 본 연구는 교사의 전문성의 구성요소로서 교직윤리가 강조되고 있으나 실제 중등 교원양성과정에서는 잘 다루어지지 않고 있음을 밝히고 개선점을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This paper focuses on the importance of teacher ethics as a component of teacher professionalism and aims to identify how such teacher ethics are addressed in secondary teacher training programs. To this end, 43 syllabi for “Teacher Practice” courses were collected from 12 teacher training universities nationwide. The overall status of teacher ethics education was analyzed based on the course titles, course descriptions and objectives, and the proportion and content of topics related to teacher ethics. The analysis revealed that, despite the inclusion of “teaching ethics” in the syllabi of “teaching practice” courses, only 26 syllabi explicitly mentioned teaching ethics or included related keywords. Even when teaching ethics was addressed, it was typically limited to one or two class sessions. ② When examining the content covered in teacher ethics classes using keywords, the main topics were “teacher ethics,” “teacher etiquette,” “teacher morality,” and “teacher perspective,” which were informal moral aspects of teacher ethics. Moreover, the scope and emphasis of teaching ethics instruction in teacher education varied considerably across institutions and instructors Based on the above research results, the following recommendations were made for future teacher ethics education. First, additional instructional hours for teacher ethics education is needed in secondary teacher training programs. Second, there is a need for clear agreement on the concept and content of teacher ethics. Finally, education that addresses the actual content needed in the teaching process, rather than didactic content, is necessary. This study is significant in that it highlights the importance of teacher ethics as a component of teacher professionalism but points out that it is not adequately addressed in actual secondary teacher training programs and suggests its improvements.
