저경력 전문상담교사의 학교내 위치성 인식 및 자기옹호와 학생옹호 실천 경험에 대한 내러티브 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 저경력 전문상담교사의 학교내 위치성 인식 및 자기옹호와 학생옹호 실천 경험을 탐구하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 3명의 저경력 전문상담교사를 연구참여자로 선정하여 각 5회의 면접을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 연구참여자들의 위치성 경험은 비주류 위치성 인식, 비주류 위치성에 대한 혼란된 반응, 경력과 노력의 상호작용으로 위축된 마음을 극복함으로 나타났다. 자기옹호 경험은 동료들과의 연대 형성, 적극적인 자기주장 감행으로 나타났다. 학생옹호 경험은 학생의 필요를 정확히 이해하기 위한 가정방문, 학생에게 필요한 자원을 결집하기 위한 연계 작업, 학생을 위한 새로운 상담기법의 구상과 적용, 학생을 대신하여 목소리 내주기로 정리되었다. 면접 과정에서 연구참여자들은 자기옹호와 학생옹호는 서로 연결되고, 학교는 변화가 가능한 곳이었음을 인식하게 되었다. 이 연구는 전문상담교사의 내부자적 관점에서 위치성 인식과 자기 및 학생 옹호 실천 경험을 조명하였다는데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to explore the perceptions of positionality within schools and the experiences of self-advocacy and student advocacy among novice school counselors. To this end, three novice school counselors were selected as research participants, and five interviews were conducted with each. The analysis results showed that the participants' experiences of positionality included a perception of their positionality as non-major, conflicted responses to such positionality, and the overcoming of discouragement through the interaction of professional experience and personal effort. Their self-advocacy experiences were characterized by forming solidarity with colleagues and engaging in active self-assertion. Their student advocacy experiences included conducting home visits to accurately understand students’ needs, engaging in collaborative networking to mobilize necessary resources for students, devising and applying new counseling techniques tailored to students, and making voices on behalf of students. Throughout the interview process, participants came to recognize that self-advocacy and student advocacy were interconnected, and that schools were spaces open to change. The significance of this study lies in its illumination of positionality perceptions and advocacy practices from the insider perspectives of professional school counselors.
