교사 대상 유아권리교육에 대한 유아교사의 경험과 요구

국문 초록

본 연구는 교사 대상 유아권리교육에 대한 유아교사의 경험과 요구를 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 3-5세 유아를 지도하고 있는 현직교사 10명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였으며, 수집된 자료는 Creswell과 Poth(2018/2021)의 나선형 자료분석 방법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 교사 대상 유아권리교육에 대한 긍정적 경험으로는 유아권리에 대한 지식을 습득한 점, 자신의 행동을 성찰하고 권리 존중 실천으로 나아갈 수 있었던 점이 있었다. 반면, 부정적 경험으로는 이론 중심으로만 이루어지며, 실제 현장에서 적용 가능한 내용이 부족하다는 점이 지적되었다. 둘째, 유아교사들은 권리교육의 필요성으로 '최선의 선택을 위한 기준으로서 필요한 교육', '유아의 권리를 지켜주기 위해 필요한 교육', '신규교사에게 더욱 필요한 교육'을 제시하였고, 교육 내용으로는 '교실속에서 실천 가능한 방법에 대한 교육', '자기성찰과 반성을 이끌어 내는 교육', '교육과정과 연계하는 교육'을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 현직교사들의 유아권리교육에 대한 실제 경험과 요구를 반영함으로써, 향후 교사 대상 교육의 방향과 내용을 구체화하는 데 기초자료를 제공한다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore early childhood teachers’ experiences with and needs for teacher education on the rights of young children. For this purpose, in-depth interviews were conducted with ten in-service teachers who were teaching children aged 3 to 5, and the data were analyzed using the spiral data analysis method proposed by Creswell and Poth (2018/2021). The results of the study were as follows. First, teachers reported positive experiences such as gaining knowledge about the rights of young children and engaging in self-reflection that led to more rights-respecting practices. However, they also shared negative experiences, pointing out that the education was overly theoretical and lacked practical content applicable in actual classroom settings. Second, teachers identified the necessity of rights education as: “an essential guide for making the best decisions,” “a way to protect the rights of young children,” and “especially important for novice teachers.” Regarding the content of rights education, they emphasized the need for “education on practical strategies applicable in the classroom,” “programs that promote self-reflection and critical thinking,” and “education that is integrated with the curriculum.” This study is significant in that it provides foundational data for specifying the direction and content of future teacher education by reflecting the actual experiences and needs of in-service teachers regarding the rights of young children.
