국문 초록

본 연구는 장애인의 자립생활을 실현하기 위한 주거환경 조성의 기초 조건으로, 유니버설디자인(Universal Design, UD)과 보조기기(Assistive Technology, AT)의 연계 가능성과 필요성을 탐색하였다. UD는 공간 환경의 접근성과 보편성을, AT는 개인의 기능적 한계를 보완하는 수단으로 작용하며, 두 요소의 통합은 사용자 중심의 주거 설계에 있어 중요한 과제로 인식된다. 본 연구는 국내외 관련 정책 및 적용 사례를 분석하여, 현행 제도 내에서의 구조적 연계 한계를 진단하고, 장애 유형별 UD 원칙 기반 AT의 적용 방향과 BF+AT 통합인증제의 구성 가능성 등을 논의하였다. 이 연구는 구체적인 제안을 도출하기보다는 통합적 주거환경 구축을 위한 연계의 필요성과 제도적 고려 요소를 기초적으로 고찰한 것으로, 향후 정책 개발 및 실무 적용을 위한 기반 자료로 활용될 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study explores the possibility and necessity of integrating Universal Design (UD) and Assistive Technology (AT) as foundational components in designing residential environments that support independent living for persons with disabilities. UD enhances spatial accessibility and inclusiveness, while AT provides personalized functional support. The integration of these two elements is increasingly recognized as essential for user-centered residential design, yet remains insufficiently addressed in current practices. Through analysis of domestic and international policies and application cases, this study identifies structural limitations in the current system and examines possible directions for linking UD principles with assistive device placement tailored to various disability types. Additionally, it discusses the conceptual framework of a potential BF+AT certification system, which would incorporate both physical accessibility and assistive technology considerations. Rather than presenting concrete solutions, this study offers an initial exploration of policy and design integration, serving as a foundational resource for future policy development and practical application in inclusive residential planning.
