국문 초록

본 연구는 대각선 횡단보도와 유니버설디자인의 관계성을 분석하고, 이를 통해 보행자의 편의와 안전을 증진하기 위한 기초연구를 목표로 진행되었다. 이에 따라 선행연구의 유니버설디자인의 특성 요소를 분석지표로 활용하고, 보행약자와 비보행약자 그룹으로 나누어 설문 조사를 통해 두 그룹 간의 인식 차이를 비교하였으며, 대각선 횡단보도의 효과를 검토하였다. 연구 결과, 유니버설디자인의 6개 특성 요소 중 접근성 항목이 보행자의 이동 거리와 시간을 단축하는 데 도움을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 보행약자와 비보행약자 간에는 인식 차이가 존재했으며, 대각선 횡단보도가 유니버설디자인의 7원칙과 일치한다는 결과를 도출하였다. 이에 따라 대각선 횡단보도는 보행 접근성을 향상하고, 사고를 예방하며, 보행 시간을 단축하는 데 기여한다는 결론에 도달하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between scramble crosswalks and universal design, serving as a foundational investigation to enhance pedestrian convenience and safety. Accordingly, the characteristic elements of universal design identified in previous studies were used as analytical indicators. A survey was conducted, dividing participants into two groups—mobility-impaired and non-mobility-impaired pedestrians—to compare their perceptions and examine the effectiveness of scramble crosswalks. The results showed that, among the six characteristic elements of universal design, accessibility contributed most significantly to reducing pedestrians’ travel distance and time. Furthermore, a perceptual gap between the two groups was identified, and the study confirmed that scramble crosswalks align with the seven principles of universal design. Based on these findings, it was concluded that scramble crosswalks help improve pedestrian accessibility, prevent accidents, and reduce crossing time.
