국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 다문화가정 아동이 지각하는 가족지지와 학교적응, 자아존중감 및 성취동기 간의 관계를 알아보고 다문화가정 아동의 학교적응에 미치는 영향을 살펴보면서 다문화가정 아동의 자아존중감과 성취동기의 매개효과를 분석하고자 하였다. 방법 한국청소년정책연구원이 수집한 다문화청소년 패널조사 1기 데이터(MAPS 1) 중 3차년도(2013년) 초등학교 6학년 아동 1,443명을 대상으로 하였으며 SPSS 18.0과 AMOS 18.0을 이용하여 빈도, 백분율, Pearson의 상관분석을 실시하고 구조방정식(Structural Equation Modeling: SEM)을 통해 검증하였다. 결과 첫째, 가족지지와 학령기 아동의 학교적응, 자아존중감 및 성취동기 간의 관계를 살펴본 결과, 가족지지는 학령기 아동의 학교적응, 자아존중감 및 성취동기와 정적 상관관계가 나타났다. 둘째, 가족지지가 학령기 아동의 학교적응에 미치는 영향과 학령기 아동의 자아존중감 및 성취동기의 매개효과를 살펴본 결과, 가족지지는 아동의 학교적응에 직간접적인 영향을 주며, 이때, 자아존중감 및 성취동기가 부분매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 다문화가정 아동의 성취동기는 학교적응에 직접적인 영향을 주고, 가족지지가 아동의 학교적응에 영향을 주는 과정에서 자아존중감에 영향을 받아 이중매개하여 간접적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 가족지지는 아동의 학교적응과 밀접한 관련이 있으며, 아동의 자아존중감과 성취동기 등 심리·정서적인 내적특성이 매개효과로 나타난 만큼, 아동이 일상생활에서부터 자연스럽게 긍정적인 자아존중감과 성취동기를 함양할 수 있도록 가족지지를 높일 수 있는 다양한 교육이 실시되어야 하며, 학교현장에서 다문화가정 아동의 긍정적인 자아존중감을 도모하기 위한 다문화교육이 중요하게 다루어져야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study attempted to analyze the mediating effects of self-esteem and achievement motivation of children from multicultural families by examining the relationship between family support, school adaptation, self-esteem, and achievement motivation perceived by children from multicultural families. Methods Among the data collected by the Korea Youth Policy Institute, 1,443 children in the 6th grade of elementary school in the 3rd year (2013) were studied in the first phase of the multicultural youth panel survey (MAPS 1). The correlation analysis of frequency, percentage, and Pearson was conducted using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 and verified through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Results First, self-esteem, and achievement motivation, family support showed a positive correlation with school-age children's school adaptation, self-esteem, and achievement motivation. Second, it was found that family support had a direct or indirect effect on children's school adaptation, and at this time, self-esteem and achievement motivation were partially mediated. Third, it was found that the achievement motivation of children from multicultural families had a direct effect on school adaptation, and family support was affected by self-esteem in the process of affecting children's school adaptation to school and had an indirect effect through double mediation. Conclusions Family support is closely related to children's adaptation to school, and as psychological and emotional internal characteristics such as children's self-esteem and motivation for achievement have been shown as mediating effects, various education should be conducted to increase family support so that children can naturally cultivate positive self-esteem and motivation for achievement from daily life, and multicultural education to promote positive self-esteem of children from multicultural families should be treated as important at school sites.
