국문 초록

국내 주요 대학들이 도입한 교과교육과정인증제는 고등교육기관의 경쟁력 제고를 위한 교육과정 질 관리 기제로 주목받고 있다. 본 연구는 이인증제가 대학 교육과정의 질 향상에 실질적으로 기여하는지를 혼합연구방법(mixed methods approach)으로 검증하였으며, 이를 통해 제도의 정책적 정당성과 개선 방향을 제시했다는 점에서 학문적·실천적 의의가 있다. 연구는 먼저 교육과정 평가의 이론적 고찰과 함께, 국내 주요 대학의 운영 사례 비교 및 A 대학의 실증적 사례분석을 통해 강점과 약점을 도출하였다. 효과 검증은 기술통계, 경향분석, 상관분석 등 정량분석과 심층면담을 통한 질적 분석을 병행하여 수행되었으며, 인증제가 교육만족도, 전공능력 향상도, 수업평가 점수 등 다수 지표에서 유의미한 긍정적 효과를 미침을 확인하였다. 이러한 시사점을 바탕으로 단계별 평가 체계 도입, 전공 맞춤형 루브릭 개발, 전문 평가자 구성, ‘대학 간 교차 인증제’ 등 제도 고도화를 위한 전략적 개선안을 제안하였다. 이상과 같이 본 연구는 교과교육과정인증제의 질 관리 효과를 다각적으로 검증하고, 지속 가능한 고등교육 품질관리 체계 구축에 기여할 실증적 기반을 제공한다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The curriculum accreditation system implemented by major universities in South Korea has attracted attention as a mechanism for enhancing the quality of curricula and strengthening the competitiveness of higher education institutions. This study examined whether the accreditation system substantively contributes to the improvement of university curricula using a mixed methods approach, and in doing so, it provides both academic and practical significance by offering insights into the policy legitimacy of the system and directions for its enhancement. The research first reviewed the theoretical foundations of curriculum evaluation and then identified the strengths and weaknesses of the system through a comparative analysis of operational cases at leading domestic universities and an empirical case study of University A. The effectiveness of the accreditation was assessed through a combination of quantitative analyses— including descriptive statistics, trend analysis, and correlation analysis—and qualitative analysis via in-depth interviews. The results confirmed that the accreditation system has significant positive effects on multiple indicators, such as educational satisfaction, improvement of major-specific competencies, and course evaluation scores. Based on these findings, strategic recommendations for system enhancement were proposed, including the introduction of a phased evaluation framework, the development of major-specific rubrics, the establishment of professional evaluators, and the implementation of an inter-university cross-accreditation system. In sum, this study comprehensively verifies the quality management effects of the curriculum accreditation system and provides an empirical foundation for establishing a sustainable quality management framework in higher education.
