홍삼 제조업 외국인 근로자를 위한 현장 중심 한국어 교육 방안 연구 : 언어 분석 및 교수·학습 모형 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 제조업에 종사하는 외국인 근로자를 대상으로, 작업 공정별 현장 용어를 반영한 역할극 기반 과업 중심 한국어 수업 모형을 개발하고 그 적용 사례와 교육적 효과를 분석하였다. 현장 조사 결과, 외국인 근로자들은 EPS-TOPIK을 통해 입국했음에도 불구하고, 일반적인 한국어 교육 과정에서는 접하기 어려운 작업 특화 표현이나 지시어, 상태 보고 언어 등을 이해하고 사용하는 데 큰 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 이는 작업 오류, 품질 저하, 안전사고 유발 등 산업 현장에서의 문제로 직결되었으며, 언어 미숙으로 인한 표현 회피나 의사소통 단절 현상도 빈번히 관찰되었다. 이에 본 연구는 실제 직무 상황에 적합한 언어를 학습자가 자연스럽게 체득할 수 있도록 과업 중심 교수학습법(Task-Based Language Teaching)을 기반으로 한 수업 모형을 설계하였다. 교육 내용은 주요 공정별로 구성된 3차시 수업으로 개발되었으며, 시나리오 기반 역할극, 사진 및 실제 도구 활용, 자기평가 및 피드백 활동 등 현장감 있는 교수·학습 요소를 포함하였다. 적용 결과, 학습자들은 지시어 및 보고 표현에 대한 이해도와 정확성이 향상되었고, 동료 간 협업 상황에서의 의사소통 적극성이 눈에 띄게 증가하였다. 또한 반복적인 과업 수행을 통해 언어 사용에 대한 자신감과 문제 해결능력이 함께 증진되었다. 이는 역할극 중심 수업이 단순한 언어 전달을 넘어 실제 산업 현장에서의 직무 수행 능력 강화에도 기여함을 시사한다. 본 연구는 홍삼 제조업이라는 특정 산업군을 중심으로 한 직업 목적 한국어(Korean for Occupational Purposes, KOP) 교육의 실천적 사례로서, 산업별 맞춤형 언어 교육 모델 개발에 유의미한 시사점을 제공한다. 향후 유사한 구조의 산업군에도 본 모형의 확대 적용 가능성이 높으며, 외국인 근로자들의 한국어 교육 내용 및 방식 개선을 위한 정책적 기반 마련에도 기여할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to develop a task-based Korean language teaching model using role-plays that reflect on-site terminology specific to each stage of the manufacturing process for foreign workers. It also analyzed its application cases and educational effectiveness. According to the field survey, although foreign workers entered Korea through the EPS-TOPIK program, they experienced great difficulties in understanding and using job-specific expressions, instructions, and reporting language that are rarely covered in general Korean language courses. These linguistic challenges were directly linked to problems in the industrial field, such as work errors, quality degradation, and safety accidents. In addition, avoidance of expression and communication breakdowns due to limited language proficiency were frequently observed. To address these issues, this study designed a Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) model that enables learners to naturally acquire language appropriate to actual job situations. The curriculum was developed into three lessons per major manufacturing process, incorporating field-based teaching and learning components such as scenario-based role-plays, photos and real tools, self-assessment, and feedback activities. The application results showed significant improvement in learners’comprehension and accuracy of instructions and reporting expressions, as well as noticeable growth in communication confidence and cooperation among colleagues. Through repeated task performance, learners also enhanced their confidence and problem-solving abilities in language use. These findings suggest that role-play-based instruction contributes not only to linguistic competence but also to strengthening practical job performance in industrial settings. As a practical case of Korean for Occupational Purposes (KOP) focusing on the red ginseng manufacturing industry, this study provides meaningful implications for developing industry-specific language education models. The model has high potential for extension to similar industrial sectors and can serve as a policy foundation for improving the content and methodology of Korean language education for foreign workers.
