국문 초록

본 논문은 중국인의 문화가치와 사회적 딜레마(social dilemma) 해소행동에 대한 실증적 분석을 통하여 중국인과 그 행동에 대한 상대적 평가지표를 제공하였다. 연구결과 중국인의 문화가치는 상당히 평등주의적, 비교적 집합주의적 가치정향을 지닌 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 중국인은 상대적으로 균등한 부담의 배분을 해결안으로 생각하고 있으며 당사자 간 협력정도가 상대적으로 높은 것으로 나타났다. 의사소통 기회의 부여는 중국인 그룹의 협력수준을 상당히 크게 상승시킴으로써 사회적 딜레마 해소에 의사소통이 대단히 큰 역할을 하며, 자원의 딜레마 상황에서 손실을 보다 균등하게 배분하도록 하는 효과가 있음을 보여주었다. 본 연구는 중국인, 중국문화에 대한 그간의 역사적, 제도적인 접근에 실증적 자료를 제공하였다는 점에서 기여가 있으며 사회적 딜레마라는 현실적인 과제에 대한 실험결과를 제공함으로써 연구결과의 실제적 유용성 또한 크다고 생각된다.

영문 초록

This paper investigates cultural values, and analyzes behaviors of Chinese people in social dilemma situation. The paper uses Schwartz survey(1994) for measuring cultural values of Chinese people and "Competitive Decision-making: SHARC" developed by DRRC of Northwestern University in the U.S. for experimenting the resolving behavior of social dilemma. The survey shows that the cultural values of Chinese people are moderately egalitarian, and collectivistic relative to other countries. Based upon the existing research results that cultural values affects distribution norm, self-centeredness in the interpretation of fairness as well as the effects of giving the chance of communication, we did an experiment, which is an asymmetric resource dilemma named SHARC, to the group of students in Quingdao University, Shandong, China. The experiment reveals that the Chinese think the equal distribution of burden as the appropriate resolution and shows relatively high level of cooperation among the group members. Provision of the opportunity to discuss upon the matters raises the level of cooperation among the members and thus plays a big role in resolving the social dilemma. Also, the experiment shows that the communication has the effects of making burden more equally distributed among members. This paper contributes to the literature, where there were mostly historical and institutional approach, in that it provides Chinese culture and their behaviors with numerical data. In addition to that, by providing experimental results on the social dilemma which are pervasive in modern society, the paper might be useful in resolving these real world problems.
