국문 초록

본 논문은 세계통신서비스시장을 지난 10여 년간(1988～1996년) 공략하여 온 17개 사업자를 중심으로 이들이 세계통신서비스 시장에 진출하는데 보여준 특성을 파악하고, 이를 기존 연구의 관점에서 검정을 하는 것으로 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 17개 사업자의 해외진출 현황을 토대로 해외진출시장특성과 사업내용 그리고 사업자의 역량을 파악하여 이를 해외진출 활동과의 관계를 파악해 보았다. 이를 통해 얻을 수 있는 시사점은 상대적으로 역량이 적은 우리나라의 사업자의 해외진출은 특정시장을 집중적으로 공략하는 Telefonica형 전략이나 선진사업자들과의 제휴를 통한 편승을 노리는 DT, FT형 전략이 유효할 것이라는 점이며, 둘째, 시장특성과 서비스 특성간의 적합성을 제고할 수 있는 전략전개가 요구된다는 점이다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the foreign market entry behavior of Seventeen Carriers and studied the relationship between their foreign market entry in and market structure(domestic), capabilities of the firms and market attractiveness(foreign). The results of this paper show that the behavior of foreign market entry depends more target market's attractiveness than domestic market competition intensity. Second, Firms with higher competence have a higher incentive for global activity. Third, Firms prefer to neighboring market so as to avoid risk. In summary, entry activity of foreign market depend on market situation(purchasing power), firm's capability and motive for hedging the risk.
