국문 초록

본 연구는 포토에세이에 반영된 RC 거주 대학생들의 RC에 대한 ‘장소애’의 의미를 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 포토에세이 글쓰기의 과정에서 RC라는 공간을 인식하고 재조명함으로써 학생들에게 RC는 물리적 좌표로서의 단순한 정주 공간이 아닌 삶을 영위하고 정체성을 형성해 가는 장소로서 의미를 지닌다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 ‘장소애’로 표현될 수 있는데, 포토에세이에 드러난 RC 거주 대학생들의 RC에 대한 ‘장소애’의 의미는 3가지로 이해된다. RC라는 장소에 대해 느끼는 애착은 RC를 공유하는 서로에 대한 이해와 소통, 타인에 대한 배려라는 사실과 함께 대학생들이 느끼는 공동체에 대한 정서적 연대감이라는 측면을 확인할 수 있다. 또한 RC에서의 경험을 통해 학생들이 스스로 어떤 가치를 지향하는지, 어떤 사람으로 성장하고 싶은지를 명확히 할 수 있는 성찰과 성장이라는 사실을 유추할 수 있다. 대학생들이 가지는 RC에 대한 정서적 애착인 ‘장소애’는 자아를 넘어 공동체, 외부 세계로 향하게 됨으로써 개인의 삶에 지속적으로 영향을 미친다. 대학생들의 RC에서의 성장 기록으로서의 의미와 가치를 포토에세이 글쓰기를 통해 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the meaning of ‘Topophilia’ for RC(Residential College) among college students living in RC reflected in the photo essay. By recognizing and re-examining the space RC in the process of writing the photo essay, it was confirmed that RC has a meaning for students as a place to live and form an identity, not a simple settlement space as a physical coordinate. This can be expressed as ‘Topophilia’, and the meaning of ‘Topophilia’ for RC by college students living in RC revealed in the photo essay is understood in three ways. The attachment to the place RC is the understanding and communication of each other who share RC, and the aspect of the emotional solidarity college students feel for the community. In addition, through experience at RC, it is possible to infer the fact that it is reflection and growth that can clarify what values students aim for themselves and what kind of person they want to grow into. The ‘Topophilia’, which is an emotional attachment to RC among college students, continuously affects the lives of individuals by heading beyond themselves to the community and the outside world. The meaning and value of college students as a record of growth in RC could be confirmed through photo essay writing.
