하브루타 학습법을 적용한 대학 소설교육의 효과성 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 대학 교양의 문학 수업 사례를 통해 하브루타 학습법을 적용한 소설교육의 효과성을 밝히는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 2023년 2학기와 2024년 1학기에S대학교의 교양선택 <현대문학의 이해> 수업과 연계하여, 수강생 총 45명을 대상으로 연구를 진행하였다. 본 연구에서는 4주(11주차~14주차)에 걸쳐 ‘질문 중심 하브루타’를 적용한 다음, 학생들이 제출한 하브루타 활동지 및 설문조사 결과를 분석하여 효과성을 검토하였다. 연구 결과, 학습자의 하브루타 활동이 단계별로 충실히 이행되었으며, 학습 내용에서도 주목할 만한 성과를 보여주었다. 설문조사에서도 1)소설 텍스트 선정, 2)하브루타 수행 및 성과, 3)하브루타 적용 수업의 효과, 4)학습자의 학습 능력 향상 등과 관련된 모든 문항에서 매우 유의미한 성과를 나타냈다. 이를 통해 대학의 문학 수업에서 하브루타 학습법의 교육적 효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 학습자 중심의 대학 교양 수업에 하브루타 적용에의 가능성을 보여준다. 본 연구는 대학의 소설교육에 하브루타를 적용함으로써 기존의 소설교육 연구와의 변별성을 확보하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study examines the effectiveness of applying the Havruta learning method to novel education through a case study conducted in a university liberal arts literature course. The participants were 45 students enrolled in the elective course Understanding Modern Literature at S University during the second semester of 2023 and the first semester of 2024. Over a four-week period (weeks 11-14), a “question-centered Havruta” approach was implemented, and its effectiveness was analyzed using students’ Havruta activity sheets and survey responses. The results showed that students faithfully performed Havruta activities at each stage and demonstrated noteworthy achievements in their learning outcomes. Survey findings also indicated significant positive effects across all categories: 1) selection of novel texts, 2) the process and outcomes of Havruta activities, 3) overall effectiveness of Havruta-based instruction, and 4) enhancement of learners’ competencies. These results validate the educational effectiveness of the Havruta learning method in university-level literature instruction and demonstrate its potential to support learner-centered liberal arts education. This study is significant in that it contributes a new perspective to the field by applying Havruta to university level novel education, thereby differentiating itself from previous research .
