국문 초록

본 연구는 일본 이주배경 청년이 한국 사회에서 경험한 반일감정을 자문화기술지를 통해 탐구하였다. 연구자는 일본인 어머니와 한국인 아버지 사이에서 태어나 한국 사회에서 성장하면서 겪은 반일감정의 형성과정을 자기회상, 자기관찰, 자기성찰 자료를 바탕으로 기술하였다. 연구결과, 연구자는 ① 일본을 대변해야 하는 위치로 몰리며 ‘일본 대표’가 되어야 했던 경험, ② 한국과 일본 사이에서 정체성의 혼란과 갈등을 겪었던 경험, ③ 평범한 한국인으로 보이고자 일본적 배경을 숨기려 했던 경험, ④ 반일감정을 사회문화적 맥락 속에서 이해하고 수용하게 된 경험을 드러냈다. 이러한 결과는 반일감정이 단순히 정치·외교적 차원을 넘어 개인의 삶과 정체성, 심리적 안정감에 깊이 영향을 미치는 사회문화적 현상임을 보여준다. 본 연구는 기존의 정치·역사 중심 연구를 넘어, 개인의 체험적·심리적 차원에서 반일감정을 조명함으로써 학문적 의의를 가진다. 또한 일본 이주배경 청년의 목소리를 통해 교육 및 상담 현장에서 필요한 문화적 민감성 증진과 정체성 통합 지원의 필요성을 시사하였다.

영문 초록

This study explores the experiences of anti-Japanese sentiment encountered by Japanese migrant-background youth in Korean society through an autoethnographic approach. The researcher, born to a Japanese mother and a Korean father, described the formation process of anti-Japanese sentiment based on self-recall, self-observation, and self-reflection. The findings revealed four key experiences: (1) being pushed into a position of having to represent Japan and becoming a “representative of Japan,” (2) experiencing confusion and conflict of identity between Korea and Japan, (3) attempting to conceal the Japanese background in order to be seen as an ordinary Korean, and (4) coming to understand and accept anti-Japanese sentiment within its sociocultural context. These results demonstrate that anti-Japanese sentiment is not merely a political or diplomatic issue but a sociocultural phenomenon that deeply affects individual life, identity, and psychological well-being. By shedding light on anti-Japanese sentiment from experiential and psychological perspectives, rather than focusing solely on political or historical dimensions, this study carries academic significance. Furthermore, by amplifying the voices of Japanese migrant-background youth, it highlights the need for fostering cultural sensitivity and supporting identity integration in educational and counseling settings.
