그림책활용 유아다문화교육 수업에서 표출된 예비유아교사의 ‘유아다문화교육’에 관한 인식 분석

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 그림책을 활용한 유아다문화교육 수업을 통하여 예비유아교사의 유아다문화교육에 관한 인식이 어떻게 변화되었는지를 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 서울시에 위치한 4년제 대학교에 재학 중인 예비유아교사 40명이 8주간에 걸쳐 진행된 그림책을 활용한 유아다문화교육 수업에 참여하면서 작성한 반성적 저널을 지속적인 비교분석법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 예비유아교사들은 본 연구의 그림책활용 유아다문화교육 수업에 참여하면서 유아다문화교육의 실천 현장에서 다문화교육의 교육적 목적을 성취하기 위하여 좋은 그림책을 적극적으로 활용하는 것은 학습자인 유아들의 문화적 유능감을 향상시키고 유아교사 자신들의 문화적 반응성을 향상시키는데 도움이 되는 효과적인 자료임을 깨닫게 되었다. 또한 예비유아교사들은 유아다문화교육의 목적을 성취하기 위해서는 다문화 유아들뿐만 아니라 주류문화 유아들을 모두 교육의 대상에 포함시켜야 하며 교육의 목적도 다양한 문화적 배경을 가진 유아들이 서로의 문화를 진정으로 이해하고 수용함으로써 정의와 평화가 공존하는 사회를 이루는 것이라고 인식하게 되었다. 마지막으로 본 연구에 참여한 예비유아교사들은 자신을 돌아보는 과정을 통하여 편견을 인식한 후 이를 극복하는 과정을 시작으로 다문화교육의 궁극적인 목적인 정의와 평화가 공존하는 사회를 이루기 위한 유아교사역할의 중요성을 인식하게 되었다.

영문 초록

The objective of this study was to investigate the early childhood pre-service teachers' understanding of multicultural education by analyzing the reflection journals collected from 'the early childhood multicultural education using picture books' class. The subjects in this study were 40 pre-service teachers in the field of early child education in N-gu, Seoul, Korea. To analyze the early childhood pre-service teachers' understanding of early childhood multicultural education, their reflection journals were collected and analyzed in terms of their views on multicultural picture books, students and teaching-learning methods for early childhood multicultural education, and the importance of the teacher's role in the field of early childhood multicultural education. The results were as follows: First, pre-service teachers appreciated the value of multicultural picture books as teaching materials in the early childhood multicultural education and also for increasing their own cultural responsiveness. Second, the pre-service teachers recognized that all the children in our society ought to be students of early childhood multicultural education, not only the children with multicultural backgrounds but also the children in the mainstream culture. And early childhood pre-service teachers obtained useful ideas for early childhood multicultural education. Third, the pre-service teachers came to understand the importance of the teacher's role in a quality early childhood multicultural education.
