국문 초록

본 연구는 대전광역시 대덕구 장동 산디마을에서 전승되어 온 산신제를 중심으로, 해당 민속신앙의 구조와 상징, 전승 방식과 현대적 변용을 고찰하였다. 특히 2025년 발간된 『장동 산디마을 산신제』 구술채록 자료를 바탕으로 고양주, 축관, 제물, 소지 등 의례의 구성 요소와 공동체 내부의 윤리 규범을 민속학적으로 분석하였다. 산신제는 단순한 종교 행위를 넘어서, 자연에 대한 경외와 공동체 연대의 상징적 실천으로 기능해왔으며, 전쟁기와 재난 속에서도 마을을 지켜준 신성한 기억으로 재현된다. 최근에는 샘물의 오염, 제관 구성의 어려움, 통장 주관 체계 전환 등 전통적 구조의 변화가 나타나고 있으며, 이는 민속신앙의 지속 가능성과 관련한 중요한 과제를 제기한다. 본 논문은 산신제가 시대의 변화 속에서도 재구성되고 해석되며, 공동체의 문화적 정체성을 유지하는 살아 있는 전통임을 실증적으로 밝혔다.

영문 초록

This study examines the structure, symbolism, transmission, and contemporary transformation of the Sanshinje (Mountain Spirit Rite) preserved in Sandi Village, Jang-dong, Daedeok-gu, Daejeon. Based on the 2025 oral history collection Jang-dong Sandi Village Sanshinje, the study analyzes ritual components such as the goyangju (ritual master), chukgwan (ritual reader), sacrificial offerings, and burning of written prayers (soji), with a folkloristic perspective. The Sanshinje has functioned not merely as a religious act, but as a symbolic practice of reverence for nature and community solidarity. It also serves as a medium for collective memory, recalling times of protection during war and disaster. In recent years, changes such as water source pollution, difficulty selecting ritual officials, and the transfer of responsibilities to administrative figures indicate structural transformations. These raise questions about the sustainability of folk beliefs. This paper argues that Sanshinje is not a static tradition, but a living cultural practice that is continuously reinterpreted and reshaped in response to social change, thereby maintaining community identity.
