국문 초록

본 연구는 고대 러시아 위경문학에 나타난 천국 개념을 성경과 비교하여, 그 언어문화학적 특성과 상징 구조를 분석한 것이다. 특히 보르카체브(С.Г. Воркачев)의 개념 구조 이론(지시적, 평가적, 상징-문화적 층위)을 적용하여, 위경 속 천국이 단순한 종교 교리가 아닌 감각적·문화적 혼성체로 형상화됨을 밝혔다. 분석 결과, 위경의 천국은 ‘지상낙원’, ‘천상의 에덴’, ‘천상의 예루살렘’, ‘신적 처소’ 등 위계화된 구조를 가지며, 세계수, 새, 섬 낙원, 포도나무 등 민속신화의 상징과 정교 신학이 복합적으로 결합되어 있다. 이러한 결과는 고대 러시아 민중의 세계 인식과 종교적 정체성을 드러내며, 위경문학이 단순한 텍스트를 넘어 집단의 개념적 상상력이 구현된 공간임을 보여준다.

영문 초록

This Study analyzes the linguistic and cultural characteristics and symbolic structures of the concept of “Heaven” as presented in Old Russian apocryphal literature, through a comparative perspective with the Bible. Applying S.G. Vorkachev’s conceptual structure theory—which consists of denotative, evaluative, and symbolic-cultural levels—the study reveals that Heaven in apocryphal texts is not merely a doctrinal construct, but a sensorial and culturally hybridized entity. The analysis shows that Heaven in apocrypha is hierarchically structured into types such as the “Earthly Paradise,” “Heavenly Eden,” “Heavenly Jerusalem,” and “Divine Abode.” These forms incorporate symbolic elements from folk mythology such as the World Tree, birds, island paradises, and the vine, intricately combined with Orthodox theological ideas. The results highlight the worldview and religious identity of the Old Russian people, suggesting that apocryphal literature serves not just as a textual tradition, but as a cultural space where collective conceptual imagination is embodied.
