국문 초록

이 연구는 국내 네팔 유학생을 대상으로 한국어 학습에 대한 기대, 가치, 비용을 분석하여 이들의 학습 동기를 파악하고, 한국어 교육 과정에 시사점을 도출하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 영어트랙 네팔 유학생을 대상으로 설문조사와 TF-IDF 분석을 실시한 결과, 이들은 한국어 학습을 학문적·직업적 성공을 위한 중요한 도구로 인식하며, 특히 외적 가치를 가장 높게 평가하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 한국어 학습에 할애되는 기회비용이 학습 기대나 가치에 영향을 주고 있음을 확인하였다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 본고에서는 학습자의 실질적 요구와 취업 연계성 반영, 자기효능감을 높일 수 있는 다층적 평가와 지속 가능한 한국어 학습 지원 체계 마련 등을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study investigates the expectations, perceived value, and cost related to Korean language learning among Nepalese international students enrolled in English-track programs at Korean universities. A survey and TF-IDF analysis were conducted to understand these students’ learning motivation and to draw implications for Korean language education. The findings indicate that the students recognize Korean language learning as an essential tool for achieving both academic and career success, and they place the greatest emphasis on its extrinsic value. It was also confirmed that the opportunity cost associated with Korean language learning significantly influences their expectations and perceived value. Based on these results, this study suggests that Korean liberal arts courses for English-track international students should reflect learners’ practical needs and career relevance, adopt multi-level assessment strategies to strengthen self-efficacy, and establish a sustainable support system for continued Korean language learning.
