외국병원사례를 통해 본 입원 영 유아를 위한 보육 및 복지 서비스 제공의 시사점 - 영국, 캐나다, 미국을 중심으로 -

국문 초록

본 연구는 영국, 캐나다, 미국 병원에서 입원 영 유아를 위한 보육 및 복지 서비스 제공 사례를 살펴봄으로써 우리나라 병원 내 입원 영 유아를 위한 보육 및 복지 프로그램 마련에 있어 시사점을 찾고자 하였다. 현재 우리나라의 경우 병원 입원 아동을 위한 교육기관으로 병원학교가 있지만 이는 의무교육 대상자인 취학 아동을 위한 교육기관으로 운영되고 있어 입원 영 유아를 위한 보육 및 복지 서비스 제공은 거의 없는 실정이다. 이에 비해 영국, 캐나다, 미국 병원에서는 아동의 복지와 권리를 바탕으로 새로운 병원환경에서 오는 스트레스와 불안을 경험하는 입원 영 유아들에게 신체적, 정서적 보육 및 복지 지원을 위해 아동 생활, 교육 및 예술 전반에 관련된 다양한 프로그램을 지원하고, 아동생활전문가와 같은 전문 인력을 양성하고 고용하고 있다. 이에 우리나라 병원 내 입원 영 유아들을 위한 보육 및 복지 서비스의 필요성을 인식하고 적합한 보육 및 복지 프로그램 개발과 프로그램 실행을 위한 전문 인력 및 보육공간이 마련되어져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study looks into the cases of child care and welfare services for hospitalized young children in hospitals of England, Canada and the United States to find implications to child care and welfare services in Korean hospitals. Currently in Korea, other than hospital schools for school children, there is lack of care and welfare services provided for hospitalized young children. On the contrary, in the hospitals of England, Canada and the United States, interns of child welfare and rights, the need for physical and mental care support for young children experiencing stress and fear from disease, injury and changes in environment are acknowledged. There are various programs regarding child life, care and art to help young children. Moreover, for the implementations of the programs, there are spaces provided inside hospitals for child care and welfare and child life specialists are employed and trained as professionals to assist in the programss. Korean hospitals should come to realize the importance of child care and welfare services for hospitalized young children and provide appropriate programs, specialists and facilities for these needs.
