또래 쌍 구성을 이룬 협동적 언어활동에서 나타난 만 5세 유아의 수준별 경험 분석

국문 초록

이 연구는 또래 쌍 구성을 이룬 협동적 언어활동에서 만 5세 유아가 언어능력의 수준에 따라 어떠한 경험을 하는지 분석하는 것에 그 목적이 있다. 이 연구에서는 언어능력 상위집단 유아와 하위집단 유아가 짝을 지어 협동적 언어활동을 수행하면서 14주 동안 경험한 것을 관찰, 면담 등을 통해 수집하고 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저, 언어능력 상위집단 유아의 경험은 ‘지식과 기술 정교화하기’, ‘일방적 주도에서 분담과 배려로 함께 이끌기’로 나타났고, 언어능력 하위집단 유아의 경험은 ‘보다 쉽게 지식과 기술 습득하기’, ‘의존성에서 적극성을 보이며 함께 이끌기’로 나타났다. 유아와 교사는 또래 쌍 구성활동의 의미로 ‘또래와 함께 해서 즐거운 활동’이라는 사회·정서적 측면과 ‘또래와 함께 해서 유익한 언어활동’이라는 인지적 측면의 가치를 드러냈다. 이 연구에서 언어능력 수준에 따른 유아의 경험 분석을 통해 협동적 언어활동의 교육적 가치를 확인할 수 있었으며, 이는 유아를 위한 언어교수-학습방법 적용에 시사점을 주리라 기대한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to analyze 5 year old children’s differentiated experiences while they participated the cooperative language activities in a peer pairing condition. Subjects were divided into two groups, high-level group and low-level group, after a language ability test, and then they made pairs. Each pair consisted of a child from the high-level group and a child from the low-level group. Cooperative language activities were applied to them for 14 weeks and data was collected through observation and interviews. The findings are as follows: First, children in high-level group elaborated their previous knowledge and skills and changed one-sided leading into leading with assigned roles and consideration to peers while they were solving the problems with their peers. Second, children in low-level group easily learned knowledge and skills from peer tutors and they showed more activeness and participation. Third, both children and teacher recognized that cooperative language activities in a peer pairing condition were interesting and useful. So I confirm the educational values and effects of cooperative activities for early language education.
