설명 담화 쓰기에 나타난 아동·청소년의 어휘, 구문 및 결속표지 특성

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등학교 4학년, 6학년, 중학교 2학년 총 51명의 아동·청소년이 산출한설명 담화 글쓰기 자료를 분석하여 관련 요인의 발달 추이를 확인하고, 이 시기 언어와문해의 평가 및 중재에 활용될 기초자료를 제공하고자 진행되었다. 연구문제는 설명 담화글쓰기에 나타난 어휘, 구문, 결속표지 표현에서 학년에 따른 차이가 있는지와 세부 요인간에 어떠한 상관이 나타나는지 탐색하는 것이었다. 세부적인 요인으로서 어휘 영역은NTW와 NDW를, 구문 영역에 나타난 표현의 복잡성은 낱말로 본 평균 T-unit 길이와 절밀도를, 결속표지 영역의 표현은 총 결속표지의 수, 결속표지의 정확률, T-unit당 평균 결속표지 사용 수를 확인하였고 다변량 및 상관분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 전반적으로학년에 따라 어휘의 다양성, 구문의 복잡성과 함께 결속표지의 사용도 및 정확도가 증가하는 경향을 확인하였다. 이러한 경향은 전체적으로 초등학교 4학년과 6학년에는 완만하게 진행되었으나, 중학교 2학년 시기에는 상승세가 뚜렷해지는 추세로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 글쓰기에 나타난 어휘뿐 아니라 구문과 문장의 응집성을 나타내는 세부적인 문법표지의 사용에 대한 확인과 관심이 청소년 시기까지 꾸준히 이어져야 함을 시사하였다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed expository discourse writing samples from 51 studentsin the fourth and sixth grades of elementary school and the second grade of middle school. The purpose was to examine developmental trends of related factorsand to provide foundational data for the assessment and intervention of languageand literacy during this period. The research questions explored whether there weregrade-level differences in vocabulary, syntax, and cohesive markers in expositorytexts, and what correlations were observed among these factors. In the vocabularydomain, the total number of words (NTW) and the number of different words (NDW)were measured. Syntactic complexity was assessed using the mean length of T-unitin words (MLT-w) and clause density. For the cohesive marker domain, analysesincluded the total number of cohesive markers, the accuracy rate of cohesivemarker use, and the mean number of cohesive markers per T-unit. Multivariateanalyses and correlation analyses were conducted. Overall, results revealed aprogressive increase across grade levels in lexical diversity, syntactic complexity,and both the frequency and accuracy of cohesive marker use. These gains weremodest between Grades 4 and 6 but became markedly more increased by Grade 8. The findings underscore the importance of continued monitoring and support of notonly lexical and syntactic development but also the mastery of fine-grainedgrammatical devices that contribute to textual cohesion throughout adolescence.
