태권도 수련 프로그램이 ADHD아동의 문제행동에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

이 연구는 태권도 수련 프로그램이 주의력결핍 및 과잉행동장애(Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: ADHD) 아동들에게 나타나는 문제행동(주의산만, 과잉행동)에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 규명하는데 있다. 연구대상은 A시 소재한 태권도 수련생 중 수련일 2개월 미만인 초등학생 1, 2학년 65명을 대상으로 부모님이 작성한 DMS-Ⅳ ADHD 진단준거 검사지의 결과와 연구자와 태권도 지도자의 관찰을 통해, ADHD로 추측되는 아동들을 ADHD 진단기준에 부합되는 4명(주의산만 1명, 주의산만, 과잉행동 복합형 3명)을 총 12주 동안 문제행동 빈도를 측정하여 전체 실시기간 동안에 나타난 전반적인 문제행동의 빈도 변화를 비교하였고, 귀가 후의 행동 변화를 알아보기 위해 학부모 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 첫째, 주의산만을 보이는 아동에게 태권도 수련 프로그램 적용 후 주의산만행동에 대한 상황적 차이는 있었으며, 또한 주의산만행동의 빈도수가 감소하였다. 둘째, 과잉행동을 보이는 아동에게 태권도 수련 프로그램 적용 후 과잉행동에 대한 상황적 차이는 있었으며, 또한 과잉행동의 빈도수가 감소하였다. 따라서, 태권도 수련 프로그램이 ADHD 증상 아동에게 효과를 검증하였다는 점에서 의의를 가지며, 현재 ADHD 아동들에게 시행되고 있는 약물치료, 놀이치료와 같은 심리치료를 보안할 수 있으며, ADHD 아동을 치료할 수 있는 특수체육의 한 부분의 대안이 될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This research has the purpose to clarify the effects of taekwondo discipline program on the improvement of problematic behaviors like discursiveness and hyperactivity shown among attention deficit hyperactivity disorder children. As research subjects, 65 students of elementary school 1st and 2nd grade with less than 2 months training among taekwondo trainees located in 'A' city were chosen, and based on the result of DMS-IV ADHD diagnosis test sheet composed by parents and observation by the researcher and taekwondo instructor, observation was done on 4 children(1 with discursiveness and 3 with discursiveness and hyperactivity compositely) presumed with ADHD for totally 12 weeks for measurement of problematic behavior frequency, followed by comparison of frequency change of overall problematic behaviors shown during the entire period of execution. And through in-depth interview with parents performed to find out the changes of behavior after home coming, the following results were obtained:First, after applying taekwondo discipline program to children with discursiveness, discursive behavior changed to some degree, and the frequency of discursive behavior decreased. Second, after applying taekwondo discipline program to children with hyperactivity, hyperactivity changed to some degree, and the frequency of hyperactivity decreased. Therefore, taekwondo discipline program is meaningful in that it verified its effect on ADHD symptom children, and thus it is concluded that the program can complement psychological treatment like chemical treatment and game treatment which are in current practice to ADHD children and can become an alternative to a part of special physical education that can treat ADHD children.
