한국 아버지의 감정코칭 양육태도 검사도구 예비 타당화연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 Gottman과 DeClaire(1997)가 개발한 감정코칭 양육태도 검사도구를 한국실정에 맞게 예비 타당화하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 자료수집을 위해 경상도의 D시, G시에 소재한 사립 유치원에 재원중인 만4세, 5세 유아의 아버지 150명을 대상으로 감정코칭 양육태도 설문지를 배부하였다. SPSS 18.0 Version 프로그램을 사용하여 탐색적 요인분석, 신뢰도분석, 피어슨 상관관계 분석(Pearson’s correlation analysis)을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국 아버지의 감정코칭 양육태도는 31문항, 4요인으로 수렴하였다. 원도구와 동일하게 4요인으로 수렴하였으나, 각 요인별 구체적인 항목이 원도구와는 다르게 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 이를 감정코치-도움형, 축소전환-억압형, 감정코치-인식형, 방임형의 4가지로 명명하였다. 둘째, 한국 아버지 감정코칭 양육태도 검사도구 전체신뢰도는 .69, 각 요인별 신뢰도(Cronbach’s α)는 .64∼.80으로 나타났다. 셋째, 한국 아버지 감정코칭 양육태도 검사도구 하위요인 간의 연관성을 살펴본 결과 감정코칭-도움형과 감정코칭-인식형은 정적 상관을 나타냈으며, 방임형이 감정코칭-도움형, 감정코칭-인식형과 부적상관을 나타냈으며, 축소전환-억압형과는 정적 상관을 나타냈다. 본 연구는 자녀의 감정을 중심으로 한 양육의 중요성을 강조하고, 감정코칭 하위영역간의 관련성을 실증적으로 보여주었다는 데 의의가 있다. 더불어, 부정적 감정에 대한 부모양육태도 인식에서 한국과 미국의 문화적 차이가 나타난 점은 한국부모의 양육태도 특징이 미국부모와는 다르다는 것을 반영하며, 국외의 양육태도 검사도구를 활용한 연구에서는 이를 고려하여 도구를 사용해야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study was done to validate a questionnaire of John Gottman's emotion coaching parenting style for Korean fathers. The first aim was to select items for Korean fathers' emotional parenting styles among the original items of Gottman’s instrument; the second was to verify their reliability, and the third was to investigate correlations between the factors. One hundred fifty fathers of young children from 3 kindergartens located in D and G city in the Gyeongsang province participated. The data were collected from May 19 to Jun 30, 2017. The fathers completed the questionnaire for emotion coaching parenting styles developed by Gottman, which had been translated into Korean by Nam (2007). SPSS 18.0 was used to analyze the data of this study. Exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis and Pearson's correlation analysis were done for the items of parenting styles based on emotion coaching. The results were as follows. First, after the examination of the items for Korean fathers' emotion parenting styles, four factors were identified, labelled as ‘emotion coaching-instruction’ ‘dismissive-disapproving’, ‘emotion coaching- understanding’, and ‘laissez-faire’. Second, the reliability (Cronbach's α) of the items for the Korean fathers' emotion coaching parenting style was found to be .64-.80. Third, emotional coaching parenting style, ‘emotional coaching - instruction’ and ‘emotional coaching- understanding’ style were positively correlated, while ‘emotion coaching-understanding’ and ‘laissez-faire’ style were negatively related. Based on the results of this study, it should be noted that there is a distinguishing cultural difference between the parenting style of Korean fathers and that of parents in U.S.A. Especially, this study showed that holding and expressing negative emotions has a different meaning between Korea and the U.S.A. Additionally this study showed that use of an instrument developed in other cultures in Korea requires special consideration for its use. This study had some limitations such as a small sample size, and only the fathers participated(not the mothers).
