국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 전공자율선택제 도입에 따라 무전공으로 입학한 신입생들을 대상으로, 자기이해와전공탐색, 대학생활적응을 지원하는 신입생 세미나 교과를 개발하고 그 효과를 검증하는 데 있다. 교과 개발은 자기가치확인 이론과 가능한 자기 이론을 기반으로 하였으며, ADDIE 모형(분석-설계-개발- 실행-평가)의 단계에 따라 체계적으로 진행되었다. 연구방법으로는 교과 운영 종료 후 회상형 사전-사후설계 기반 온라인 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 총 252명의 응답 데이터를 분석에 활용하였다. 긍정심리자본, 자기이해 및 전공탐색, 대학생활적응을 주요 교육성과로 설정하고, 대응표본 t-검정과 효과크기(Cohen’s d) 분석을 적용하였다. 주요 연구결과에 따르면, 긍정심리자본의 전체 평균 및 하위요인 모두에서 학기 초보다 학기 말에 유의미한 향상이 나타났고, 자기이해 및 전공탐색, 대학생활적응 부문에서도실질적인 교육효과 증진이 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 신입생 세미나가 처방적 학사지도 차원의 단순정보 전달이 아닌 학생의 자기성찰, 전공탐색 및 설계, 대학생활적응 등 전인적 성장에 기여하는 실효성있는 교과임을 실증적으로 보여준다. 본 연구는 대학 입학 초기 신입생들의 자기주도적 성장과 성공적대학생활을 지원하는 체험소양교육 측면에서의 교양기초교육과정의 설계와 정책적 실천의 근거를 제공한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a “Freshman Seminar” course designed to support self-understanding, major exploration, and college adjustment among first-year students admitted under the Undeclared Major Selection System. The course was grounded in Self-Affirmation Theory and Possible Selves Theory and systematically developed through the ADDIE model (Analysis-Design-Development-Implementation-Evaluation). To examine the effectiveness of the course, a retrospective pretest-posttest online survey was conducted at the end of the semester, and responses from 252 students were analyzed. Psychological capital, self-understanding and major exploration, and college adjustment were set as the primary learning outcomes, and paired-sample t-tests and effect size analyses (Cohen’s d) were applied. The results indicated significant improvements in overall psychological capital and its sub-dimensions (self-efficacy, optimism, hope, and resilience) from the beginning to the end of the semester, with resilience showing the largest effect size. Self-understanding and major exploration, as well as college adjustment, also improved significantly, demonstrating the practical educational effects of the seminar. These findings provide empirical evidence that the Freshman Seminar goes beyond prescriptive academic advising focused on information delivery, serving instead as an effective course that fosters students’ self-reflection, major exploration, and holistic growth. The study contributes to the design of general education curricula and policy implementation by highlighting the role of experiential liberal education in supporting self-directed growth and successful college adjustment among first-year students.
