학업적 자아개념과 수업참여 사이의 상호인과적 관계: 자기회귀 교차지연 모형의 적용

국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 한국교육종단연구2013 패널 자료를 사용하여 학업적 자아개념과 수업참여 사이의 상호인과적 관계를 알아보았다. 연구방법: 한국교육종단연구2013 패널조사에 참여한 중학생 중에서 중3시점(5차 연도)과 고1시점(6차 연도)에서 2회 모두 조사에 응답한 6,212명의 자료를 활용하여 자기회귀 교차지연 효과를 분석하였다. 연구결과: 첫째, 선행시점(5차 연도, 중3)의 학업적 자아개념은 후행시점(6차 연도, 고1)의 수업참여를 유의하게 예측하지 못하였다. 둘째, 선행시점(5차 연도, 중3)의 수업참여가 높을수록 후행시점(6차 연도, 고1)의 학업적 자아개념이 높았다. 셋째, 학업적 자아개념의 자기회귀 효과는 정적으로 유의하였다. 넷째, 수업참여의 자기회귀 효과는 정적으로 유의하였다. 논의 및 결론: 학교생활 중에서 가장 큰 비율을 차지하는 수업시간에 능동적으로 참여하는 것이 학업적인 측면에서 자기를 긍정적으로 지각하는데 유익한 효과가 있다고 제안한다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study investigated the reciprocal relationship between academic self-concept and class engagement using data from the Korean Education Longitudinal Study 2013 panel. Method: This study analyzed the autoregressive cross-lagged relationships between academic self-concept and classroom engagement, utilizing data from 6,212 students who participated in both the 5th (9th grade) and 6th (10th grade) waves of the Korea Education Longitudinal Study 2013. Results: First, academic self-concept at the earlier time point (9th grade) did not significantly predict class engagement at the later time point (10th grade). Second, higher class engagement at the earlier time point predicted higher academic self-concept at the later time point. Third, the autoregressive effect of academic self-concept was positively significant. Fourth, the autoregressive effect of class engagement was also positively significant. Conclusion: These results imply that active participation in class activities, which constitute a major portion of school life, may have a beneficial impact on students' positive perceptions of students’ academic abilities.
