국문 초록

본 연구는 중등 예비 교사들이 교육봉사활동 과정에서 경험하는 ‘현실 충격’의 양상을 심도 있게 탐구하고 그 교육적 의미를 규명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 D사범대학 교육봉사활동 프로그램 참여자 31명을 대상으로 질적 사례 연구를 수행하였으며, 성찰일지와 심층 면담 자료를 지속적 비교 분석법으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 예비 교사들은 학습자 실재, 확장된 교사 역할, 제도적 맥락과의 충돌 속에서 다차원적인 현실 충격을 경험하였다. 특히, 교육봉사자의 경계적 지위에서 비롯된‘역할 모호성’이 다른 충격을 증폭시키는 핵심 기제로 작용하였다. 그러나 예비 교사들은 성찰일지를 매개로 한‘성찰적 실천’을 통해 충격에 능동적으로 대응하며, 정서적 반응을 넘어 비판적 분석과 전략 모색으로 나아갔다. 궁극적으로 이 과정은 예비 교사들이 현장의 복잡성을 이해하고 현실에 기반한 전문가로서 교사 정체성을 재구성하며, 교사 회복탄력성을 함양하는 변혁적 학습의 계기가 되었다. 본 연구는 현실 충격을 성장의 동력으로 전환하기 위해 역할 모호성 완화, 성찰적 실천의 체계화, 멘토링 강화를 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to deeply explore the aspects of ‘reality shock’ experienced by secondary pre-service teachers during educational volunteer activities and to elucidate its educational implications. Utilizing a qualitative case study approach, the study analyzed the reflective journals and in-depth interviews of 31 participants from D University's program using the constant comparative method. The findings revealed that participants experienced multidimensional reality shocks stemming from collisions with learner realities, expanded teacher roles, and institutional contexts. Notably, ‘role ambiguit’, arising from the boundary status of volunteers, was identified as a core mechanism amplifying these shocks. However, participants actively responded to these shocks through ‘reflective practice’ mediated by journal writing, moving beyond emotional reactions toward critical analysis and strategic planning. Ultimately, this process served as an opportunity for transformative learning, enabling the pre-service teachers to reconstruct their professional teacher identities based on the complexities of the field and to develop teacher resilience. Based on these findings, this study suggests improvements for educational volunteer programs, focusing on mitigating role ambiguity, systematizing reflective practices, and strengthening mentoring systems.
