오디세이학교 수료생의 청년기 이행과정에 관한 교육 경험 분석: 2015~2021 수료생을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 국내 최초로 일반고등학교 1학년 단계의 전환학년제를 도입한 오디세이학교를 사례로, 청년기에 진입한 수료생들의 삶에서 오디세이학교의 교육 경험이 어떠한 영향을 미치고 있는지를 심층적으로 분석하였다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 수료생 11명을 주요 연구참여자로 선정하였으며, 수집된 심층면담 자료를 개방 코딩으로 주제 분석을 하였다. 수료생들은 성인이 된 현재에도 오디세이학교 1년의 교육 경험이 자기 삶에서 긍정적으로 작용하고 있다고 보고하였는데, 구체적인 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자신에 대해 깊이 생각하고 성찰한 경험 그리고 자기의 생각이 집단 내 가치 있게 받아들여지는 경험은 성인이 된 이후에도 자신의 관심사를 주체적으로 기획하고 실행에 옮기는 과정에 긍정적으로 기여하고 있었다. 둘째, 수료생들은 ‘하루 열기’와 ‘하루 닫기’ 등의 활동을 통해 다양한 배경의 학생들과 생활하면서 소통과 경청의 중요성을 느꼈는데, 이는 성인이 되어서도 타자와 깊이 있는 관계를 형성하는 데 영향을 주었다. 셋째, 진로에 대해서도 개인 성취나 자아실현의 문제가 아닌 타자 및 자신이 속한 공동체와의 관계 속에서 사회적 역할을 고민하는 방향으로 나아가고 있었다. 본 연구는 오디세이학교 수료생의 교육 경험을 사례로 하여 전환학년제의 교육이 청년기 이후의 삶에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 구체적으로 살펴보았다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed how the educational experience at Odyssey School affects former students life after finishing Odyssey School. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, 11 graduates were the main subjects of the study, and additional interviews with parents and teachers who watched the graduates' growth were also conducted. The subject analysis was conducted on the in-depth interview data collected in this study, focusing on open coding and axis coding. As a result of the study, graduates reported that one year of education at Odyssey School is still working positively as they become adults. As a result of the study, first, the experience of thinking deeply about oneself and reflecting on oneself, and the experience of receiving one's thoughts as value within the group, were shown to be the independent planning and implementation of what one is interested in even after becoming an adult. Second, the graduates felt the importance of communication and listening while living with students from various backgrounds through 'Open Day' and 'Closing Day', which influenced the formation of in-depth relationships with others. Third, regarding career path, it was not a matter of personal achievement or self-realization, but rather a direction of contemplating the social role in the relationship with others and their communities. This study is meaningful in that it examined how transition education, which was introduced to improve Korean entrance exam-oriented education based on the experiences of graduates, affects them even after they become adults.
