국문 초록

본 연구는 결혼이민자의 한국어 말하기 능력 향상을 위한 실질적인 교육 방안을 탐색하고자, 2022년 도입된 TOPIK 말하기 모의평가 문항을 기반으로 학습자의 발화 데이터를 수집하고 언어 오류를 질적 분석하였다. 특히 질적 연구 방법 중 하나인 주제 분석(Thematic Analysis)을 적용하여 결혼이민자 언어 사용에서 드러나는 반복적 문제를 체계적으로 분류하고 해석하였다. 한국 사회에서 결혼이민자의 한국어 말하기 능력은 일상생활, 자녀 교육, 사회적 관계 형성, 고용 기회 확보 등 다양한 영역에서 필수적인 기능을 한다. 자아 정체성과 자존감 형성에도 밀접하게 연관되어 있고, 주체적인 삶을 살아가기 위한 중요한 기반이 된다. 본 연구에는 전북에 거주하는 한국어 고급 수준의 결혼이민자 6명이 참여하였으며, TOPIK 말하기 문항에 대한 응답을 녹음하고 전사(transcription)하여 분석 자료로 활용하였다. 분석 결과, 학습자들의 말하기에서 공통으로 나타나는 오류는 크게 발음의 부정확성, 어휘 사용의 한정성, 문법적 불안정성 그리고 의견 제시의 미흡함으로 요약될 수 있었다. 이는 단순한 언어 능력의 부족을 넘어서 의사소통 상황에서의 실질적인 제약 요인으로 작용하고 있었다. 이러한 오류 양상을 바탕으로 학습자의 발화 능력 향상을 위해 STEP 말하기 교육 모델을 교육 전략으로 제안하였다. 각 단계는 결혼이민자들의 일상 속 말하기 상황뿐만 아니라 의견 제시 상황에서 실제로 사용할 수 있는 표현과 전략을 자연스럽게 익히도록 유도한다. 특히 이 모델은 다문화센터 또는 지역 사회 기반 기관에서 말하기 수업을 설계할 때, 교육자에게도 적용과 운영이 용이하도록 설계하였다. 본 연구는 결혼이민자의 중급에서 고급 수준의 말하기 교육 설계의 필요성을 제기하며, 한국어교육 현장에 실질적으로 기여할 수 있는 말하기 지도 전략을 제시한 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study collected learner's speech data and qualitative analysis of language errors based on the TOPIK speaking simulation evaluation question introduced in 2022 to explore practical educational measures to improve marriage immigrants' Korean speaking ability. In particular, by applying Thematic Analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, repetitive problems revealed in the use of marriage immigrants' language were systematically classified and interpreted. In Korean society, marriage immigrants' ability to speak Korean plays an essential function in various areas such as daily life, children's education, social relationship formation, and employment opportunities. It is also closely related to the formation of self-identity and self-esteem and becomes an important basis for living an independent life. In this study, six marriage immigrants from high-level Korean living in Jeonbuk participated, and responses to TOPIK speaking questions were recorded and transcribed and used as analysis data. As a result of the analysis, errors common in learners' speech could be largely summarized as inaccurate pronunciation, limited use of vocabulary, grammatical instability, and insufficient presentation of opinions. This was acting as a practical limiting factor in communication situations beyond a simple lack of language ability. Based on these error patterns, the STEP speaking education model was proposed as an educational strategy to improve learners' speech ability. Each step encourages learners at the intermediate level or lower to naturally learn expressions and strategies that can be used in everyday speaking situations. In particular, this model is designed to be easy to apply and operate to educators when designing speaking classes in multicultural centers or community-based institutions. This study is significant in that it raises the need for the design of middle and high-level speaking education for marriage immigrants and suggests a speaking guidance strategy that can substantially contribute to the Korean language education field.
