국문 초록

본 연구는 현실갈등이론에 근거하여 다문화사회의 통합을 위협하는 주요 심리적 요인인 지각된 위협인식이 다문화수용성에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 다문화교육 경험이 지각된 위협인식과 다문화수용성 간의 관계에서 어떠한 조절효과를 갖는지에 대해 분석하였다. 이를 위해서 ‘2021년 국민다문화수용성조사’를 활용하여 일반 성인 5,000명을 대상으로 통계분석을 시행하였다. 분석 결과, 지각된 위협인식은 다문화수용성에 유의미한 부(-)적 영향을 미치는 반면 다문화교육은 다문화수용성에 유의미한 정(+)적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 다문화교육은 지각된 위협인식이 다문화수용성에 미치는 부정적인 영향을 ‘완화’하는 조절효과를 갖는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 분석 결과를 토대로 다문화수용성 증진을 위한 정책적 실천에 주요한 함의를 제공하였다는 점에서 중요한 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the impact of perceived threat, a major psychological factor that threatens the integration of multicultural societies, on multicultural acceptance based on realistic conflict theory and analyzed the moderating effect of multicultural education experience on the relationship between perceived threat and multicultural acceptance. For this purpose, statistical analysis was conducted on 5,000 general adults using the 2021 National Multicultural Acceptance Survey. The results of the analysis showed that perceived threat has a significant negative effect on multicultural acceptance, while multicultural education has a significant positive effect on multicultural acceptance. In addition, multicultural education has a moderating effect that ‘mitigates’ the negative effect of perceived threat on multicultural acceptance. This study is important in that it reveals that perceived threat and acceptance vary by occupational group and provides important implications for policy actions to promote multiculturalism.
