대학생 학습자의 고쳐쓰기 과정에 나타난 띄어쓰기 오류 교정 양상에 대한 연구

국문 초록

본고는 대학생 글쓰기 과제 71편에 나타난 띄어쓰기 오류 양상을 초고, 최종본을 비교해서 분석함으로써 학습자의 고쳐쓰기 과정에서 나타나는 오류의 변화 양상과 학습자의 오류 교정 전략을 알아보고자 한다. 초고와 최종본의 오류 개수 비교 결과, 초고에 비해 최종본에서 오류가 현저하게 감소한 반면, 오류 유형의 비율은 초고와 최종본 사이에 큰 차이가 없어서 붙여 쓴 오류가 띄어 쓴 오류보다 많이 나타났으며 붙여 쓴 오류 중에는 명사+명사 유형, 본용언+보조 용언 유형이, 띄어 쓴 오류 중에는 조사 또는 서술격 조사 활용형이 결합된 경우, 접미사가 결합된 경우가 두드러지게 나타났다. 이는 학습자가 어려워하는 오류의 출현에 경향성이 있음을 보여준다. 이러한 띄어쓰기 수정 과정에서 학습자는 맞춤법 검사기, 한글/워드 프로그램 등의 도구를 적극적으로 이용함을 알 수 있었다. 위와 같은 분석을 토대로 본고는 다음과 같은 교수 방향을 제시하였다. 첫째, 학습자가 스스로 고쳐쓰기 과정을 수행하는 것만으로도 띄어쓰기 오류의 자기 교정 효과가 충분히 나타나므로 교수자의 피드백은 어문 규범 이외의 부분에 집중하는 것이 효율성을 높일 수 있다. 둘째, 학습자가 띄어쓰기 자기 교정을 충실히 수행하여 규범에 맞는 글을 쓸 수 있도록, 고빈도 오류 유형 중심으로 교육하되, 맞춤법 검사기 등의 도구 활용 방법에 대한 교육도 필요함을 언급하였다.

영문 초록

This paper analyzes the aspects of errors in the revision processes and error correction strategies of 71 college students by comparing the draft and final versions of spacing errors in their writing tasks. The analysis revealed a significant decrease in errors from the draft to the final versions. However, the ratio of error types remained consistent, with incorrect non-spacing (written together instead of separately) appearing more frequently than incorrect spacing (written separately instead of together). Among the incorrect spacing errors, ‘noun+noun’ errors were most common, followed by ‘main verb+auxiliary verb’ errors and other types. For the incorrect non-spacing errors, particle-related errors were the most significant, followed by errors involving copula conjugation and others. This suggests that learners have difficulties with specific error types. During the correction process, learners actively used tools such as spell checkers and functions of word processing programs (i.e., Hangeul or Microsoft Word) to identify and correct their spacing errors more efficiently. This indicates that they use these tools within their error correction strategies. Based on this analysis, the paper suggests: First, allowing independent self-correction can demonstrate its effectiveness and enable focused instructor feedback beyond orthographic norms. Second, educating learners on the effective use of spell checkers, with a particular focus on high-frequency error types, can enhance their ability to self-correct accurately and produce texts that comply with spacing norms.
