장애아동 부모의 동반의존성 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 장애아동 부모에게서 나타나는 가족 관계에서 나타나는 집착하고 문제 행위를 지속시키는 현상을 살펴보기 위해 동반의존성 설문 문항을 분석함으로써 장애아동과 부모와의 관계 형성에서 나타나는 문제점을 살펴 부모의 자녀 양육이 바람직하게 이루어질 수 있는 기초 자료를 제공하는데 의의를 갖는다. 본 연구는 C광역시의 4곳의 상담치료센터에서 치료활동 중에 있는 장애아동의 부모 55명을 대상으로 Jo와 Kim(2001)이 한국 실정에 맞게 번안한 동반의존성 측정도구를 통하여 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지적장애아동을 양육하는 부모가 지체장애아동을 양육하는 부모 보다 동반의존성과 통제성향에서 부모간의 가족 관계에서 나타나는 집착 또는 문제행위를 지속시키는 역기능적인 정서를 지니는 반면 부모가 장애아동에게 의존을 보이지는 않는다. 둘째, 장애아동을 양육하는 가정에서 어머니가 아버지 보다 집착 또는 문제행위를 지속시키거나 지나친 의존을 하는 등의 역기능적인 정서를 지닌다. 또한, 장애아동 부모 중에는 집착과 문제행동을 지속시키는 통제패턴 역기능은 어머니가 높고 지체장애 부모 보다 지적장애 부모가 높으며, 지나친 의존으로 나타나는 순응패턴은 장애아동 어머니가 아버지 보다 높지만, 장애아동 자녀의 장애에 따라 차이는 보이지 않는다. 따라서 장애부모의 동반의존성은 부와 모에 따라 장애범주에 따라 차이를 보이는 일반적인 양육태도의 경향을 살펴볼 수는 있으나 이를 일반화하는데는 한국 사회 특유의 가족 문화와도 관련이 있다고 하겠다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed survey questions concerning codependency to examine the dysfunctional family relationships that are revealed in parents of children with disability. This study is significant in observing the problems from the relationship formation between children with disability and their parents and thus providing fundamental data that can help parents achieve desirable child rearing. This study used measuring instruments that were adapted to Korea's situation by Jo and Kim(2001) to observe 55 parents that are receiving therapy at 4 counseling therapy centers in city C. The conclusion of this study is as follows:First, the parents of mentally disability children have more dysfunctional emtotions in the areas of codependency and control patterns of codependency than the parents of physically handicapped children, but there is little difference in the submission pattern. Second, in a family raising a child with disability, the mother has dysfunctional emotions in codependency, its control pattern, and submission pattern more than the father. In codependency and its control patterns, mothers of children with disability scored higher than fathers and parents of mentally disabiled children scored higher than parents of physically handicapped children. On the other hand, in the area of submission patterns of codependency, mothers of children with disability scored higher than fathers, but there seems to be little difference according to the category of the disability. Therefore, the general disposition of parents raising children with disability in a family is different according to the category of children with disability and the parenting attitude of father and mother also could be different. But it is hard to conclude that parenting attitudes of all parents of children with disability are dysfunctional. The attitudes also are related to Korea's characteristic family culture.
