국문 초록

본 연구는 학교상담사들의 윤리적 딜레마 대처 경험을 탐색하여, 그 경험에 대한 실체이론을 구축하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 학교상담사 11명을 면접하였고, 면접 자료를 근거이론 방법으로 분석하였다. 연구참여자들은 상담기록, 신고의무, 사전동의, 상담 및 윤리 전문성과 관련된 윤리적 딜레마를 경험하였다. 학교상담사의 윤리적 딜레마 대처 과정은 정서적 불편함으로 윤리적 딜레마인식, 윤리적 해결을 위한 다양한 시도, 현실적인 윤리적 해결을 고안 및 실행, 그리고 윤리적 효능감 획득의 순서로 경험되었다. 이러한 대처 과정을 통해 학교상담사들은 상담기록보관 전략을 고안하고, 신고의무를 준수하고, 사전동의서를 보완해 나갔고, 계속교육을 통해서 상담 및 윤리적 전문성을 획득하였다. 학교상담사의 윤리적 딜레마 대처 과정에 영향을 끼친 학교상담의 특수성은 전문상담교사 양성과정의 한계, 윤리적 딜레마에 학교와 공동으로 대처, 학교상담사의 근무조건, 상담문화와 교사문화의 이질성이었다. 또한 학교상담사의 가치관인 도덕적 자기상, 가족중심주의, 집단적 의사결정 선호, 체면 중시가 윤리적 딜레마 대처과정에 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구는 학교상담사의 윤리적 딜레마 대처 경험에 대한 과정중심적 실체이론을 제시함으로써, 학교상담사의 윤리교육의 방향성을 제시하였다는 점에 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This Study explored school counselors’ coping experiences with ethical dilemmas and developed a substantive theory based on their experiences. Interviews were conducted with 11 school counselors, and the data were analyzed using grounded theory. Participants reported ethical dilemmas concerning record-keeping, duty to report, informed consent, and counseling and ethics competence. The coping process unfolded in four stages: recognizing ethical dilemmas through emotional discomfort, making various attempts to resolve them ethically, devising and implementing realistic ethical solutions, and ultimately achieving a sense of ethical efficacy. Through this process, participants designed record-keeping strategies, rigourously maintain duty to report, refined informed consent practices, and enhanced their counseling and ethical competence through continuing education. Contextual factors that influenced coping process included limitations of school counselor training programs, the need to collaborate with schools in addressing dilemmas, conditions of employment, and the different cultures between counselors and teachers. In addition, school counselors’ personal values, such as moral self-concept, familism, preference for collective decision-making, and concern for face-saving, shaped their approaches to ethical dilemmas. The significance of this study lies in its proposal of a process-oriented substantive theory that explains how school counselors cope with ethical dilemmas, thereby providing directions for ethics education.
