그림책에 대한 영·유아의 반응 연구 경향 분석 - 1996년부터 2010년까지의 국내 연구를 중심으로 -

국문 초록

본 연구는 1996년부터 2010년까지 15년 동안 수행된 그림책에 대한 영·유아 반응 연구 총 64편을 수행된 시기별로 I기(1996-2000년), II기(2001-2005년), III기(2006-2010년)로 나누어 연구경향을 분석한 것이다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 연구 편수는 I기와 II기에서는 별 차이를 보이지 않다가, III기에 접어들어서 급증하였다. 둘째, 전체적으로 5세 유아를 대상으로 선정하는 연구가 가장 많았으나, III기에서는 5세를 선정한 연구 수는 매우 감소하였고, 2세 혹은 4세를 선정한 연구가 증가하였다. 따라서 연구 대상 연령의 하향화 현상이 확인되었다. 셋째, 연구들은 전반적으로 환상그림책을 가장 많이 활용하였으며, 장르별에 따른 변화 경향은 크게 나타나지 않았다. 넷째, 연구들은 전반적으로 ‘그림책 읽어주기’를 가장 많이 활용하였으나, 점차 ‘그림책 읽어주기’는 감소한 반면, 영유아의 주도적인 반응을 격려하는 전략이 크게 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 전체적으로 ‘언어적 반응’만을 분석한 연구가 많았으나, III기에서는 II기에 비해 ‘언어적 반응’과 ‘비언어적 반응’을 모두 분석한 연구가 급증한 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과는 향후 그림책에 대한 반응 연구의 설계에 기초자료를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to identify the research trends on children’s response to picture books, which were conducted from 1996 to 2010 in Korea. During that time a total of 64 studies on children’s response to picture books were conducted. To identify the research trends this study divided the 15 years into three 5-year periods. Period I was 1996-2000, II was 2001-2006 and III was 2007-2010. This study analyzed the numbers of research projects which were conducted in each period, the ages of research subjects, the genre of picture books which were used by those studies, the strategies to determine appreciation of those picture books, and the response styles of the children which were adopted by those projects. The results of analysis were as follows: The number of studies did not vary between period I and II, but increased rapidly in period III. Each period showed that the most popular research subjects were 5-year-olds. But in period III the number of research projects which selected 2 and 4-year-olds as their subjects increased. The most popular genre of picture book which was used in research was fantasy, and this trend did not change across periods I, II and III. Among strategies on appreciating story books, the “reading aloud story books” strategy was the most popular in all periods. But this tendency declined and the strategy that “encourages children’s self-directed responses” was increased in period III. The most frequently adopted response style of children was the “language response” throughout the three periods. But in period III, those studies which adopted both “language response and non-language response” styles increased over period II. The results of this study may be of help in further research of children’s response to picture books.
