국문 초록

본 연구는 김영재의 해금 독주곡 「계명곡(鷄鳴曲)」에 나타난 의성·의태 표현을 중심으로 곡의 묘사 기법을 분석하였다. 연구의 목적은 각 악장의 구성 요소를 구분하고, 장단과 리듬을 통해 해금의 다양한 연주 기법을 고찰하는 데 있다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 「계명곡」은 닭의 움직임과 울음소리를 해금의 서정적인 선율과 다양한 연주 기법으로 묘사한 표제음악이다. 곡은 평조와 계면조 선법, 전통 장단을 바탕으로 여섯 개의 악장(새벽, 낮Ⅰ·Ⅱ·Ⅲ, 저녁, 밤)으로 구성되며, 각 악장마다 무장단, 단모리장단, 엇모리장단, 중허튼타령장단, 굿거리장단 등 다섯 가지 장단이 사용되어 해금의 독특한 표현력을 극대화한다. 둘째, 새벽 악장은 3/4박자의 무장단으로 시작하여 닭 울음소리로 서막을 연다. A-B-A’ 구조로 이루어져 있으며, 평조와 계면조 음계를 활용해 새벽의 정경을 다양한 선율 구조로 묘사한다. 다양한 연주 기법이 사용되며, 특히 퇴성이 두드러진다. 셋째, 낮Ⅰ악장은 4/4박자의 단모리장단으로, 닭의 활발한 행동과 울음소리를 생동감 있게 표현한다. A-B-A’ 구조로 나뉘며, 스타카토와 퇴성 등 다양한 기법이 활용된다. 넷째, 낮Ⅱ악장은 5/8박자의 엇모리장단으로, 경쾌한 리듬을 통해 닭의 움직임을 묘사한다. 리듬 패턴과 선율의 반복이 특징이며, 닭들 간의 사회적 상호작용이 음악적으로 표현된다. 다섯째, 낮Ⅲ악장은 12/8박자의 중허튼타령장단으로, 닭의 갑작스럽고 불규칙한 행동을 표현한다. A(a-a′-a′′)구조와 12마디 단위의 반복을 통해 닭들의 일주기 리듬을 효과적으로 드러낸다. 닭의 행동 변화가 음악적으로 잘 나타난다. 여섯째, 저녁 악장은 12/8박자의 굿거리장단으로, 닭들이 닭장으로 들어가기 전의 모습을 묘사한다. 유동적인 리듬과 반복되는 악절 구조가 특징적이다. 마지막으로, 밤 악장은 3/4박자의 무장단으로, 계면조 음계를 활용해 밤의 정경을 섬세하게 묘사한다. 다양한 연주 기법이 사용되며, 특히 글리산도가 돋보인다. 본 연구는 해금의 소리를 이미지로 변환할 수 있는 가능성을 입증하며, 전통 악기의 현대적 위상을 재정립하는 데 기여하고 있다. 해금은 단순한 반주 악기가 아닌 서사적 주체로서의 역할을 수행하게 되었으며, 이는 의성어와 의태어의 음악적 재현을 통해 이루어졌다. 이러한 접근은 해금의 표현력을 극대화하고, 전통성과 현대적 기법을 결합하여 곡의 완성도와 예술성을 높이는 데 중요한 역할을 했다. 따라서, 본 연구의 분석 결과는 해금 창작곡의 발전에 기여할 수 있는 중요한 기초 자료가 될 것으로 기대된다. 해금의 현대적 재정립은 전통 음악의 지속적인 발전과 창작 국악의 활성화에 기여하며, 앞으로도 다양한 실험적 시도와 창작이 이루어지기를 바란다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the description technique of the song, focusing on the expressions of Uiseong and Uiseong in Kim Young-jae’s solo song “Gyemyeonggok (鷄鳴曲).” The purpose of this study is to classify the components of each movement and to examine various performance techniques of Haegeum through rhythm and rhythm. The main results are as follows. First, “Gemyeonggok” is the title music that describes the movements and cries of chickens with the lyrical melody and various playing techniques of Haegeum. The song consists of six movements (dawn, day I, II, III, evening, and night) based on the Pyeongjo, Gyemyeonjo, and traditional rhythms, and five rhythms are used in each movement, including the Mujangdan, Danmori rhythm, Eotmori rhythm, Junghutton Taryeong rhythm, and Gutgeori rhythm to maximize the unique expressive power of Haegeum. Second, the dawn movement begins with a 3/4 beat armed group and opens the prelude with a chicken cry. It consists of a ‘A-B-A’ structure, and depicts the scene of dawn in various melodic structures using flat tones and interfacial scales. Various performance techniques are used, and degeneracy is particularly remarkable. Third, Day I movement is a 4/4 beat short mori rhythm that vividly expresses the active behavior and crying of chickens. It is divided into B-A’ structure, and various techniques such as staccato and degeneracy are used. Fourth, Day II movement is a 5/8-beat eotmori rhythm that depicts the movement of chickens through cheerful rhythm. It is characterized by repetition of rhythmic pattern and melody, and social interaction between chickens is expressed musically. Fifth, Day III movement is a 12/8-beat middle-hutton rhythm that expresses the sudden and irregular behavior of chickens. It effectively reveals the circadian rhythm of chickens through the A(a-a′-a′′) structure and repetition of 12-bar units. The change in chicken behavior is musical. Sixth, the evening movement is a ‘gutgeori’ rhythm of 12/8 beats, depicting the appearance of chickens before entering the chicken coop. It is characterized by a fluid rhythm and a repeated syllable structure. Lastly, the night movement is a 3/4 beat armed group that delicately depicts the night scene using the interfacial scale. Various performance techniques are used, and glissando stands out in particular. This study demonstrates the possibility of converting the sound of the haegeum into images, contributing to the reestablishment of the contemporary status of traditional instruments. The haegeum has come to serve not merely as an accompanying instrument, but as a narrative subject, a transformation achieved through the musical representation of onomatopoeia and mimetic words. This approach has maximized the expressive power of the haegeum and played a crucial role in enhancing the completeness and artistry of compositions by combining tradition with modern techniques. Therefore, the analytical results of this study are expected to serve as an important foundational resource for the development of haegeum compositions. The contemporary redefinition of the haegeum contributes to the continuous advancement of traditional music and the revitalization of creative Korean music, and it is hoped that various experimental attempts and creative works will continue in the future.
