전시기의 희극영화 - <즐거운 인생(愉しき哉人生)>(1944)의 캐릭터 특징과 이데올로기적 기능을 중심으로

국문 초록

This paper analyses Tanoshiki Kana Jinsei(1944), a film produced in the late wartime period, as a case study to uncover the traits of comedy films in this period. At that time, the Japanese government moved away from the film production policy to boost wartime morale and launched a new direction towards “national comfort”, mainly emphasizing communal life, everyday life, and cheerfulness, among others. Building on this film policy, the present study analyses the characteristics of comedy films in the wartime period, focusing on the traits of the characters, their social roles, and the ideological functions of the film, Tanoshiki Kana Jinsei. More specifically, this study analyzes how the protagonist, the Sōma family, is depicted as a model family, as well as how their influence extends to those around them and, ultimately, to the whole community. In particular, I investigate how each of Tarō Sōma, the first daughter Hideko, and the second daughter Megumi impacts others. In doing so, I reveal how the family becomes an exemplary member of the community, through the repeated uses of positive expressions, the visual depictions of a fantasy world, and their relations with other characters. While the film Tanoshiki Kana Jinsei was an entertainment film, it also served as an ideological device to accelerate community cooperation and positive thinking, in line with the historical background of the time.

영문 초록

本論文では、戦時期末期に製作された『愉しき哉人生』(1944)をケーススタディとして取り上げ、当時の喜劇映画が持つ特徴を分析する。当時の日本政府は、従来の戦意高揚中心の映画制作方針から脱却し、｢国民慰安｣という新たな方向性を打ち出した。主に共同体的生活、日常性、明朗さなどが強調された。本研究では、このような映画政策を踏まえつつ、『愉しき哉人生』におけるキャラクターの特徴と社会的役割、イデオロギー的機能に着目し、戦時期の喜劇映画の特徴を考察する。 特に、主人公である相馬一家がどのように模範的な存在として描かれ、彼らの影響が周囲の人々、さらには地域社会全体へと拡張されていくかのプロセスを分析していく。具体的には、相馬太郎、長女·英子、次女·めぐみが個別に他者に与える影響を考察し、繰り返されるポジティブな言葉や視覚的な幻想描写、他の登場人物との関係性を通じて、彼らが共同体における模範的存在としていかに定着していくかを明らかにする。映画『愉しき哉人生』は娯楽映画としての機能を持ちながらも、当時の時代的背景と呼応する形で、共同体の協調や積極的な思考を推進するイデオロギー的役割を果たしていたと考えられる。
